Scottie Scheffler secured a three-shot victory at the rain-delayed RBC Heritage on Monday to continue a dominant streak not seen since the best of Tiger Woods.

The world No 1 has now won four of his last five tournaments - including at The Masters earlier this month.

The only blip in that remarkable run came at the Texas Children's Houston Open, when he finished tied second. It means Scheffler has pocketed more than $16million in 43 days.

Scheffler led by five shots when the rain stopped Sunday's final round in South Carolina.

He had three holes to negotiate on Monday in order to collect another $3.6million before heading home to his wife Meredith, who is due to give birth to their first child in the coming days.

The 27-year-old bogeyed the par-four 18th, ending a streak of 68 consecutive holes at par or better. But he still finished on 19-under-par - three shots clear of Sahith Theegala in second.

Scheffler has now earned $18.69million this season - more than double the next highest earner, Wyndham Clark ($9.3m). The US Open champion finished third at RBC Heritage to take home $1.36m.

Scheffler has won four of his 10 events on the PGA Tour this season - no other player has earned more than one victory.

The Masters champion has finished in the top 10 in all but one tournament, with this victory making him the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win the week after slipping on the Masters green jacket.

Clark twice finished second behind Scheffler in the lead up to The Masters and he followed that up with a tie for third in South Carolina. The world No 5 ended four shots behind Scheffler, alongside Patrick Cantlay.

Heavy rain stopped play for two and a half hours on Sunday, with Scheffler able to get through only 15 holes before darkness forced a Monday finish.

When play resumed, Theegala made birdie on 16 and saved par from the bunker on 17 before closing with another par for a 68. That was worth an additional $666,667 to finish alone in second.

'Even though I finished second, I felt like I was never really in it to win there. Scottie was just so far ahead,' Theegala said.

Next up for Scheffler is another prize - his wife is due with their first child next week. Still to come are three majors, starting with the PGA Championship next month.
