The demolished site of Chris Pratt and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger’s historic 1950s Los Angeles home, which they are planning to replace with a 15,000 square-foot farmhouse style mansion, has been seen for the first time.

In images of the construction zone, not a trace remained of the Zimmerman House, designed by Los Angeles-based modernist architect Craig Ellwood, was left standing.

A large yellow crane with a wrecking ball, which was used to dismantle the property that the couple purchased for $12.5 million last year, and a white pickup truck were seen parked in the now-vacant plot of land.

Over the weekend, the couple sparked outrage after it was revealed that they had torn down the historic mid-century modern house to build a gaudy mansion.

The move has angered architecture enthusiasts who claim the home was in great condition with its original features in tact.

It boasted floor-to-ceiling windows, a focal brick fireplace and wood built-ins and was previously featured in Progressive Architecture magazine.

The historic property had previously belonged to Hilda Rolfe, who was married to Sam Rolfe- the co-creator of The Man from Uncle series, before she died in 2022.

Footage from December 2022 portrays the home in great condition with the original aspects of the property intact including mid-century furniture, large windows and wood floors.

However the Marvel actor and his wife cleared the single-story home to make space for a farmhouse style mansion.

Architectural Digest has claimed architect Ken Ungar will design the property for the couple.

The home is across the street from Katherine's mother Maria Shriver and will contain a three-car garage and a secondary unit close to the pool.

The Los Angeles Conservancy, which works to protect and save historic buildings, issued a warning in January about the 1950s property being demolished.

It said it looked 'to be highly intact and a noteworthy example of modernist design from this era'.

While SurveyLA identified the home as potentially historic, ultimately there were no protections applied.

The Eichler Network slammed the decision to destroy the home.

'At the same time as architectural homes are being marketed as high-end, collectible art, others are being torn down to build new,' writer Adriene Biondo said.

'Perhaps a historic-cultural monument designation could have saved the Zimmerman house, or allowed the necessary time to delay demolition. Tragically, calls for preservation fell on deaf ears.'

Social media users are upset at Pratt and his wife for tearing down the historic property in favor of a mansion.

'They couldn’t build their SHEIN McMansion somewhere else?,' one person asked.

'Yet more proof that money can’t buy good taste,' another said.

DailyMail.com has contacted Pratt and Schwarzenegger for comment.
