A board-certified dermatologist has revealed just how much hair you can lose before it indicates that there's a problem.
Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky, who is based in Mississippi, shared the information in a recently resurfaced video that was posted to her TikTok account in February.
The dermatologist, better known as @dermguru on social media, often makes videos sharing various skin and hair health tips.
In this clip, Dr. Zubritsky laid out a numbered chart showing a hair shedding scale and what it looks like in real terms.

Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky, better known as @dermguru on social media, based in Mississippi, often makes videos sharing various skin and hair health tips
'Did you know its actually normal to be losing anywhere between 100 to 200 hairs every single day?' Zubritsky began in the video, which has so far reached over two million views.
In the chart, she had measured hair loss by different grades. However, she noted that it may look different depending on your hair length.
Grade one was classified as ten hairs, with grade two as 50 hairs, grade three as 100 hairs, grade four as 200 hairs, grade five as 400 hairs, and grade six as 750 hairs.
'If your hair's looking like any of these, it's normal,' she said, pointing to hair loss grades one through three.
'If your hair starts looking like this, it's around four hundred hairs, or this, it's around seven hundred and fifty hairs, you have a problem,' she shared.
According to Scientific American, an average person has anywhere from 90,000 to 150,000 hairs on their head.
So, while the thought of losing 100 hairs per day may seem like a lot, it's not much in the grand scheme of things.
But, if you're losing more than that, Dr. Zubritsky recommended reaching out to your dermatologist to schedule an appointment to discuss potential courses of treatment.

In other videos, the dermatologist has also recommended products like Nutrafol, which is a popular hair growth supplement, and even rosemary oil
Treatment for hair loss can range from taking a medication like Rogaine, biotin, zinc or collagen, to procedures like Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy or light therapy, per Cleveland Clinic.
In other videos, the dermatologist has also recommended products like Nutrafol, which is a popular, oral hair growth supplement, and even rosemary oil.
Rosemary oil has gained traction as a natural remedy for preventing hair loss and promoting growth over the past few months.
However, the dermatologist did note in a February TikTok video that it's important to use rosemary oil in the right way.
Dr. Zubritsky recommended using the oil twice per day for at least six months and applying it right on the scalp.
She said that the oil should not be mixed with shampoo, and should be used more than one to three times per week.
'If you've been using rosemary oil once or twice a week and you've only been using it for two to three months, and you haven't noticed any results, it's because you're not doing it right,' she said in the TikTok clip.
In the comments section of Zubritsky's video, many users admitted that they struggled with hair loss, showing that it's not an uncommon problem
'You need to be using it twice a day, and give it six to nine months before you decide whether or not it's working for you.'
In the comments section of Zubritsky's video, many users admitted that they struggled with hair loss, showing that it's not an uncommon problem.
'I'm not lying... I've been losing a LITERAL fist full of of hair for the last month. What is wrong with meeee,' one person wrote.
Another user agreed, 'I am losing about the double of the last picture every morning and night and I don't know what to do.'
'This is good to know I thought I was balding,' someone else shared.
