Elon Musk's X is down worldwide, leaving thousands of users unable to access the website or app.

DownDetector, which monitors online outages, shows issues appeared around 9:45am ET, impacting the US, the UK and parts of Europe and Asia - among other regions of the globe

Many users report that their feed is not loading properly, posts are not sharing or they are being shown a blank page.

Some users do have access to X have and are sharing posts about the glitch.

'Can you imagine the stress being Elon today? Tesla future hangs in the balance, about to get margin called, pay package might get rejected and now X is down,' an X user posted.

What caused the glitch and how many have been impacted are not yet known.

DownDetector's outage map shows major cities across the US are experiencing problems, including Los Angeles, Phoenix and New York City.

Approximately 77 percent of issue reports cite the website, 16 percent of user stated the app is glitching and a small seven percent noted their server connection is down.

More than 6,000 users have reported problems with X to DownDetector since the outage hit.

One X user shared on the platform that they were able to post using the app but not the website.

Another shared a screenshot showing their posts are not loading.

Musk's X last went down roughly two weeks ago, leaving users unable to access their accounts - but the incident was not worldwide.

The X CEO last week teased a possible change to the platform, which would see all new users pay a 'small fee' to interact with posts.

Replying to an account that had posted about the possible changes, the Tesla and SpaceX boss said charging new users to post, like and reply is the 'only way' to stop fake or bot accounts on the platform.

The news has not gone down well with many users, with one warning such a change would 'drive millions of people away from the platform.'
