A woman who was left fighting for her life after drinking an insect infested coffee she bought from a Majorca airport has spoken out about the ordeal, revealing she went blind during the horror incident.

The 21-year-old airline worker had purchased the hot drink from a vending machine in the Son Sant Joan airport, located near the capital city of Palma, before spotting 'little antennas and wings' in the cup while halfway through drinking.

Speaking from a hospital bed to respected Spanish news site Ultima Hora, the woman said she remembered drinking her coffee as normal, but just 10 minutes later she began feeling sick.

She noticed the beverage tasted funny and upon closer inspection, she noticed a swarm of winged insects crawling around the cup.

A horror image of the drink shows tiny bugs stuck to the sides of the half-empty cup, drowned in the brown liquid.

After dashing to the bathroom in a state of shock, she revealed the terrifying moment she returned to her partner to inform them that she couldn't see anything.

Her condition continued worsening until she began having an anaphylactic shock - with her face and throat swelling up to the point she struggled to breathe.

She was given adrenaline and other drugs by airport health services before losing consciousness and being rushed to a clinic in Palma.

'When I arrived at the ICU, they told my boyfriend: "Be thankful that a body hasn't arrived",' she said.

The woman, who spent 36 hours in the ICU from Monday, was released yesterday after revealing: 'I had a bad time, seeing myself alone, with all those tubes'.

She also told how the first thing she did when she spotted the flies was call Deli Corner - the coffee company.

'They told me to bring my cell phone and they would refund the 50 cents,' she said.

'I did it with the good faith that it wouldn't happen to another person, I told them that I didn't want the money, I just wanted them to do something'.

Her family have now filed a complaint against the airport to the National Police, Ultima Hora reported.

They claim the presence of bugs in the coffee cup is a possible crime against public health and reckless injuries, the news site added.

The family added that the machine, which has now been closed down, was clearly poorly maintained by airport staff.

The woman explained that she intends to continue with the complaint as she makes a full recovery, in an effort to prevent a repeat of a situation similar to the one she experienced.
