Ilhan Omar comes to Columbia University to save her homeless daughter: Squad member joins the anti-Israel campus camp after ripping into the cops and Speaker Mike Johnson

A week after Rep. Ilhan Omar's daughter, Isra Hirsi, was arrested for protesting at Columbia University, she and her progressive 'Squad' member mother visited the pro-Gaza camp on campus to enjoy the campus and take selfies with activists.

Hirsi was one of more than 100 individuals arrested last Thursday for participating in an anti-Israel demonstration. She was also suspended from Barnard College the same day

The 'Squad' member's daughter later went on cable news touting herself as homeless and hungry after being booted from her dorm and dining halls.

'I don't know when I can go home, and I don't know if I ever will be able to,' she told an MSNBC host last week.

Hirsi also slammed the college for not providing meals, saying 'there was no food support, no nothing.'

But her fortunes have changed as she was spotted with her congresswoman mother on campus, posing for selfies with her fellow protestors just one week after her arrest and suspension.

'I had the honor of seeing the Columbia University anti-war encampment firsthand,' Omar posted on X after her campus visit.

'Contrary to right-wing attacks, these students are joyfully protesting for peace and an end to the genocide taking place in Gaza. I’m in awe of their bravery and courage.'

Her post accompanied a video of her shaking protestors hands and receiving warm welcomes from the students.

Omar's trip comes a day after Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., visited the campus to condemn the demonstrators to a chorus of boos and protest.

Johnson slammed the crowds at Columbia as being 'lawless agitators and radicals' and questioned their ability to become 'leaders of America.'

He also praised the Jewish students who remain committed to their education and have braced vicious anti-Israel protests to do so.

'We will not be silent while Jewish students are expected to run for their lives,' the speaker told the crowd.

Johnson, who met with Columbia University President Minouche Shafik before making his address, publicly called for her to resign if she remains unable to control the protests that have roiled on campus.

He also threatened to pull federal funding from schools that are unable to ensure the safety of their Jewish students.

Omar, on the other hand, has encouraged protestors and praised their efforts.

'I have to tell you I am incredibly moved by your courage and bravery as a student body in putting your bodies on the line to stand in solidarity to end the genocide that is taking place in Gaza at this moment,' Omar told the demonstrators at a University of Minnesota protest earlier this week.

She even gave her daughter an apparent shout out in her remarks, 'what started five out five days ago with only 70 students organizing themselves at Columbia University has now turned led to a nationwide university movement.'

Omar also mentioned a recently uncovered mass grave of 200 Palestinians, calling the discovery 'incredibly painful' before celebrating the crowds' efforts in giving a 'voice to the genocide that is taking place in Gaza.'

But Omar is not the first 'Squad' member who has been defending the pro-Palestinian protests.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., ripped the NYPD Wednesday night for deploying counterterrorism units to deal with protestors at Columbia University.

'Not only did Columbia make the horrific decision to mobilize NYPD on their own students, but the units called in have some of the most violent reputations on the force,' The New York Democrat posted on X.

She was responding to a video of NYPD counterterrorism officers dealing with Columbia University pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

'NYPD had promised the city they wouldn’t deploy [Strategic Response Groups] to protests,' Ocasio-Cortez's post continued. 'So why are these counterterror units here?'

Later, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell responded to Ocasio-Cortez, giving her and the protestors a lesson.

'Columbia decided to hold its students accountable to the laws of the school. They are seeing the consequences of their actions. Something these kids were most likely never taught,' Chell wrote responding to the Democrat on X.

'Good SAT scores and self-entitlement do not supersede the law,' the NYPD Chief continued. 'I am sure you would agree that we have to teach them these valuable life skills.'

He told Ocasio-Cortez to go to the university campuses herself to hear the hateful rhetoric the demonstrators have been using.

'The only incidents that day on campus were the student's hateful anti-Semitic speech and vile language towards our cops. I am sure you agree any hateful speech is unacceptable.'

'You should rethink your comments to a simple thank you to the NYPD and hate has no place in our society,' Chell added.
