Kansas City Chiefs fans have been going wild on social media after their team picked the rapid wide receiver Xavier Worthy in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Worthy's speed means he looks to be a formidable asset for Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the team and after he was selected by Kansas City, the Chiefs whipped up a frenzy on social media by sharing his record-setting 40-yard dash from the NFL Combine.
Worthy blitzed the dash in a stunning 4.21 seconds at the NFL Combine while at Texas.
Chiefs fans couldn't wait to welcome Worthy to Kansas City and commented on the post: 'Kid breaks the record and will get a Super Bowl ring in his first season.'
Another couldn't help but make a reference to Taylor Swift - Kelce's girlfriend: 'Move over, Taylor. There's another Swift coming!'
New Chiefs star Xavier Worthy set a 40-yard dash record of 4.21 seconds at the Combine
Fans joked that Taylor Swift should 'move over' with 'a new Swift coming' after the Draft
A different Chiefs fan said: 'Welcome to the Kingdom! That crowd noise fired him up, you could tell.
'Wait till he hears Arrowhead as he's hitting the end zone.'
Chiefs GM Brett Veach hailed worthy after the pick was made official, saying: 'It's a speed game and the more speed you have on the field, the harder it is for defenses to take away different elements of the game.'
'Anytime you can add speed and add a guy with that type of versatility, I think you're going to be interested.
'I think as the season goes on here, I think we'll have just an offense that can attack in multiple different ways and always keep defenses guessing.'
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid downplayed Worthy's inevitable comparisons to Tyreek Hill - the former Chiefs man who is widely considered the fastest player in the NFL.
'They're different and he'll put his own mark on things once he gets a feel for it,' Reid said.
'That wasn't the comparison as much as it was him being a good football player.'
