People have been reminiscing about all the bizarre interactions they used to act out with their Barbie dolls when they were kids - with hilarious results.

Alexa Rowe sparked the conversation after taking to TikTok to showcase the difference between how 'how adults thought we played' versus 'how we actually played.'

She acted out two very distinct dialogues to demonstrate the stark differences.

And viewers soon flooded to the comments to come clean about their own playtimes in times gone by.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 583,000 times, Alexa could be seen gripping a figurine in each hand.

She began with a cordial scene that most parents would expect as one doll said: 'Wow. You look so nice today.'

To which, the other responded: 'Thank you, so do you Barbie. Let's go to the store!'

But then she comedically transitioned to show the dolls engaged in a much more serious conversation.

Set against ominous mood music, the dolls yelled at one another during a heated confrontation.

'How could you do that to me? You're sleeping with every other Barbie. We have a family together. Me and our 35 other children mean nothing to you?' one demanded.

'The fact we're getting evicted from our apartment? You haven't even been paying for it.'

Switching to the role of the counterpart, she continued: 'I've given you everything you've ever wanted.'

The protagonist responded: 'You never gave me anything I needed. Kids, come on, we're leaving your father in the dust.

'And if you even try to find me again, I will pluck out your eyeballs in front of every single woman you've ever loved, and eat them!'

She then imitated her mom calling her outside the door as a child by saying: 'Honey, it's time to go,' before responding: 'Just five more minutes.'

Alex captioned the light-hearted video: 'It was always SO MF DRAMATIC (ANYONE ELSE!?!?!?).'

And the floodgates soon opened as hundreds of her 202,000 followers confessed to their own playtime plots.

One person wrote: 'No stop, cause my dolls were having love affairs and murdering each other on the daily.'

A second person added: 'I acted out a kidnapping storylines more times than I'd like to admit.'

Another wrote: 'Me making all my Barbies the teenage guardians of their younger siblings after their parents died.'

Someone else added: 'My Barbies always had wrecks, went into comas, then died whenever I wanted to switch playing with a different Barbie.'

One person commented: 'My Barbies had a plane crash on a deserted island and had to fight for survival.'

Another person wrote: 'I once had a story with Barbies where we went to a beach for 24 hours, and our mom was helping us, but it turns out she wasn't our mom and kidnapped us.'

But, on the other hand, some followers could not relate and grew up gently playing with their Barbies instead

One person wrote: 'I feel robbed of my childhood. I never did this.'

A second person commented: 'Wait for real, when I was younger, I was pretending that my Barbies were shopping.'

Alexa has since shared with BuzzFeed: 'I thought it would be a hilarious contrast to depict how I assumed parents/the media "think" we play with toys/play pretend, versus how we actually do.

'Little girls can have such a RICH AND WILD imagination, so I thought it would be funny to depict!

'I just love girlhood. And I love breaking the stereotypes of girlhood.

'The comments made me cackle and also cry. It deeply moved me to see how all of us were connecting on this weird/hilarious/wild shared experience in such an intimate, hilarious, rich way.'
