It was a difficult game, they played with bravery. They have fast players with a lot of quality so we found a goal in the moment when it was 10 against 11. It is a great victory as we had a lot of games behind us. Now we have a long week to recover.

The game changed when Bernardo (Silva) came inside and made a lot of passes. It was difficult because the opponents were so tough, and aggressive. These games are so, so tough at this stage in the Premier League.

I remember Pep Guardiola's first Premier League match in the dugout, well today was his 300th for Manchester City.

He is only the fifth manager to take charge of that many matches with a single club in the competition, after Arsène Wenger, Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, and Jürgen Klopp.

They are well and truly embroiled in a battle with Luton and Burnley to beat the drop.

Wow, it's not often you see sides have more shots than Manchester City.

This just proves how well Nottingham Forest performed today, they took the game to the Champions.

However, the fact that only two of their 14 attempts were on target tells the story, really.

The scoreline is what matters in the end and Manchester City fans are the ones that are smiling at the sight of it.

All in all, a very enthralling match.

I think we have to give credit to Nottingham Forest, they caused Manchester City all sorts of problems this afternoon.

On a different day, they may have scored two or three goals, but they just didn't have their shooting boots on.

It's going to be a nervy few games as the season comes to an end. They are just one point ahead of Luton in 18th, and two ahead of Burnley in 19th.

The relegation battle could go all the way until the final day.

Yeah, we know where they are at the table, so we knew it was going to be a fight with it's not the easiest pitch to play on, but we can't complain about these things. It's about winning a football game, and that's exactly what we did. So three points, Get in, shower. Think of the next one.

Prior to today, it was talked about how monumental of a day today was, and both Arsenal and Manchester City have come out unscathed.

City still have their destiny in their own hands, but Arsenal are certainly going to push them all the way.

We can surely now say that it is just a two-horse race.

Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne are a match made in heaven.

Since the start of last season, Kevin De Bruyne has assisted Erling Haaland 11 times in the Premier League – at least three more than any other player has to a single teammate in this time.

That is a ridiculous amount. Like my mates used to say when playing FIFA, they are a cheat code.

As long as they are playing together, Manchester City are in safe hands.

It's about moments. They took their goal before and then it was bringing on this man (Erling) Haaland. I thought his all-round play today was excellent. Obviously, took his goal really well.

There are times when you're going for a league where you're not at your best, but in terms of getting over the line and the pivotal moments, (you need to) get the job done. That's exactly what they've done today

Erling Haaland is a machine.

I knew as soon as he was called up from the bench that he was going to cause Nottingham Forest problems, and low and behold, he did.

When he has the ball in the area, he is just so clinical. You never think he is going to miss.

Haaland will be happy for two reasons today. Firstly, because it's great to return from injury with a goal. Secondly, because he is now alone at the summit of the Golden Boot race with 21 goals.

I wonder how Chris Wood is feeling right now.

The Nottingham Forest striker missed two golden chances which would have seen the hosts draw level.

He then had to watch his counterpart Erling Haaland come on and score with practically his first chance.

That has got to sting.

Erling Haaland nearly squeezes a third past Matz Sels but doesn't quite manage it, and the whistle is then blown.

It was by no means a vintage Manchester City performance, but that doesn't matter, they come away from Nottingham with three points in the bag and a clean sheet.

Nottingham Forest certainly made them work for it, they were the better side for large spells of the match, but they just weren't clinical.

City were though, as Josko Gvardiol's strike and a goal on his return to the side for Erling Haaland makes sure City are now just one point behind Arsenal once again.

This title race just doesn't slow down.

I'm surprised by this number, there are going to be five added minutes.

There is not much left in this game now, might as well have blown the whistle when it hit 90 minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne's afternoon has come to an end, and it's another vital shift complete from the Belgian.

The former Chelsea man tries to bend one into the far corner, and it looks like it's flying in, but Stefan Ortega manages to get a strong hand to it.

I've been really impressed by Hudson-Odoi today, he looks more like himself than he has the last couple of years.

Nuno Espirito Santo is shuffling the pack again.

Willy Boly's race is run, he is spent by the looks of it, and Ibrahim Sangare comes on in his place.

Nottingham Forest have now switched to a back four.

The Nottingham Forest fans make some noise for the first time in a while as they try to pick up their players.

Man City are just stroking the ball around with ease, Forest just look like they want the game to end.

That goal has knocked the stuffing out of this game.

Nottingham Forest are still trying but with no success. It feels like their chance has gone.

This will be a huge win for Manchester City.

What a beautiful goal that was. Chris Wood has made goal-scoring look really hard today. Erling Haaland just made it look easy. That has largely been the difference.

Nuno Espirito Santo has decided to go for it, he is making a triple change.

Ryan Yates, Gio Reyna, and Andrew Omobamidele all come into the fray while Anthony Elanga, Danilo, and Murillo all make way.

They have just over 15 minutes to make an impact.

That is Erling Haaland at his very best.

He combines with, guess who? Kevin De Bruyne, before duping Murillo and calmly slotting it past Matz Sels.

That should be that now. Haaland was making a difference, and now he has made THE difference.

It then sets Forest off on a dangerous counter. Anthony Elanga drives into the area and delivers a great low cross, but no one is there to turn it home.

Guardiola is really wearing this. Pacing up and down, on his haunches every time Forest go forward. Not an easy afternoon for City, who have been below par again.

Erling Haaland is already making a difference.

He sets a Manchester City counter-attack on its way and Julian Alvarez nearly finishes it with a goal, but his strike flies wide.

Now that Alvarez has shifted to the left-hand side, we may start to hear his name a little more.

This is not a sight Nottingham Forst fans will be happy with.

It's Erling Haaland time, he returns from injury to replace Jack Grealish, who was getting beaten up a little bit.

He first manages to take the ball from the toes of Bernardo Silva as the City man looks set to score.

He then decides he is going to galavanting and takes on several City players, including Kyle Walker. However, after beating the full-back, his pass towards Callum Hudson-Odoi is cut out.

There is something not right about City at all and Forest are threatening to take advantage.

Chris Wood has missed another sitter with the danger once again coming down the Forest left. City right-back Kyle Walker is not having a terribly good game….

Manchester City are really struggling here.

Anthony Elanag seems to be striking fear into the City defence every time he runs at them.

This time he sets Forest off on a lovely counter which ends with Morgan Gibbs-White sending an effort wide from outside the box at the end of it.

Chris Wood should score, but once again he can't turn it home!

Anthony Elanga does really well to battle his way into the area on the left-hand side and he lays it on a plate for Wood, but he doesn't get a good connection from six yards out, and Josko Gvardiol gets it clear.

Nottingham Forest are going to rue these missed chances.

Well then, Ederson was obviously struggling more than we thought.

The Brazilian keeper has had to come off at half-time with Stefan Ortega coming on in his place.

Pep Guardiola isn't finished there though, Jeremy Doku has been hooked with Meto Kovacic replacing him.

Anyway, the visitors get us back underway.

This is about as unimpressive City ever look and they are still winning at half-time with their goalkeeper yet to make a save.

That does not tell the whole story, admittedly. Forest have made life uncomfortable for the City defence when they have delivered arial balls and they have – through Wood and Murillo – missed two very good chances.

Manchester City lead at the break, but is it deserved? I wouldn't say so on the evidence so far.

Nottingham Forest have gone toe-to-toe with the Champions and should probably have at least one goal to their name.

However, they don't and Josko Gvardiol's powerful header means Man City do. That's just how football goes sometimes.

Ederson nearly has a moment to forget as he doesn't get a clean punch on a corner, and he should pay for it but doesn't.

The ball drops to Murillo two yards out with his back to goal and he flicks the ball up onto the bar and over.

This is the 3-4-3 system that brought Nuno some success against City during his time at Wolves and it has worked today, with wing-backs Neco Williams – before he went off injured – and Ola Aina lively. But Forest’s Achilles heel has undone them again. That was the 23rd goal they have conceded from a set piece in the league this term.

Nottingham Forest have actually responded well to going behind.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has a chance this time, but he rushes his shot from outside the area and scuffs the ball over the bar.

Manchester City are allowing the home side plenty of opportunities.

Oh my word, how are Nottingham Forest not level?

Chris Wood has been extremely reliable this season, but he has just dropped an absolute clanger.

Ola Aina swings in a cross which is played back across the box by Gonzalo Montiel for Wood.

The goal is gaping, he simply can't miss, but he miskicks the ball and the chance goes begging.

You can't afford to give bad goals away against the best teams. At the very least you have to make them earn them.

Nice near post header from Gvardiol to give City the lead from a corner but he was able to run off Gibbs-White and across Murillo far too easily to meet the ball first.

The goal has completely changed the feeling of this game. The City Ground is now silent bar the Manchester City supporters in the corner.

Anyway, Neco Williams is indeed making way, Gonzalo Montiel comes on in his place.

What a header!

Just as Nottingham Forest are down to 10 men, Manchester City pounce and it's through a storming header by Josko Gvardiol.

It comes from a corner, and my oh my, it's a beautiful one from Kevin De Bruyne. Gvardiol sprints to the front post to head it home.

As the ball hit the net you could feel the life being sucked from the stadium.

Oh, Neco Williams... that is not what you want to see.

The Nottingham Forest defender does really well to force Jack Grealish out of room, but in the process pulls up with a hamstring problem.

He is now off the pitch and looks unlikely to continue. he had been playing so well too.

It just feels like this game is there for Nottingham Forest.

Chris Wood gets the ball on the edge of the area and decides to have a go. It comes close, but he bends it just over the bar.

The City Ground have enjoyed the last few minutes as Forest have defended well and then tried to hit City on the counter.

Kevin De Bruyne is usually clinical from dead-ball situations, but this time he fires one powerfully into the wall.

The ball is headed away by Willy Boly, but it came at him at some pace and he needs a second to recover.

The Manchester City full-back plants one high and wide of the Nottingham Forest net. It certainly didn't look like a shot.

Ederson is down after a collision with Willy Boly. It was a big hit when they both clashed.

After a while receiving treatment though, Ederson is ok to continue, which is a relief for Pep Guardiola.

Nottingham Forest are not scared to have a go at Manchester City.

Neco Williams is once again the man on the end of a flowing move and he forces Ederson into a strong save from a tight angle.

Every time Forest move forward, the City Ground roars and it is some noise.

Nottingham Forest must agree with my dislike for the Premier League anthem. It just doesn't sound very good does it (I'm certain that's why they are booing).

Ryan Walker, who has done a sterling job, has now had to dash, and I Harry Bamforth will be leading the coverage.

This match now feels more pressurised than before after Arsenal's huge win at Spurs.

The teams are now coming out at the City Ground to a very noisy reception.

There is something telling about the importance of Phil Foden to this Manchester City side. The Englishman has been the club's best player this season but is a surprise omission from today's matchday squad.

Foden has starred with 24 goals in all competitions but has been ruled out of today's clash through illness.

Can City cope without him?

Anthony Elanga is probably better known by Premier League fans for Nottingham Forest after becoming a regular starter at the club this season, but the former Manchester United man will want to prove a point against his boyhood team's rivals.

Coincidentally, Elanga was scouted by City as a child but opted to join the red half of Manchester and later went on to score four goals in 55 appearances for the Old Trafford club.

He's just one of Forest's dangermen and City will be wary of his pace on the counter-attack.

Victory for Arsenal moves the Gunners four points clear at the top of the table and the need for City to get three points today has just gone up tenfold.

Arsenal are showing no signs of the slip-up that practically gift-wrapped City the title last season and anything but three points for today's visitors at the City Ground would spell disaster.
