Two men were killed and four women were injured after a gun fight broke out at a crowded San Antonio festival with the shocking aftermath caught on camera. 

The footage shows crowds enjoying the final day of the Fiesta San Antonio at Market Square with a parade and live music, when gunfire erupts. 

Police run through the crowd and start firing at the shooters while onlookers run away or duck down and scream. 

Two gunmen, aged 18 and 20, were killed in the shootout and four female bystanders were wounded, according to San Antonio police. 

The identities of the suspects and victims and the cause of the fight have not yet been released.

The fight broke out just as the final day of the 11-day citywide Fiesta celebration of live music, food markets and parades was wrapping up.

Just after midnight on Sunday morning, as crowds milled around the historic Market Square, gunshots rang out. 

Two men, aged 18 and 20, started shooting at each other near the stage on Conch Alley and police ran over and opened fire on the men. 

Police were chasing the teenager when one of his shots hit the 20-year-old, knocking him to the floor. 

Officer then opened fire on the teenager, according to police. 

The 18-year-old died at the scene while the other gunman died at a local hospital later that day. 

Four women bystanders were injured in the shoot-out. 

A 36-year-old and a 29-year-old woman were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while two other young women were checked and released at the scene. 

It is not clear if they were shot by bullets from the gunmen or the police. The two officers involved have worked for the department for 13 years and five years.

Police found the two handguns used in the incident and are investigating.   

Police Chief William McManus said officers working near the stage intervened when they heard the shots ring out in the area of South Santa Rosa and Dolorosa.

He tweeted at 3am: 'I'm on the scene of an OIS that occurred just before the end of the Market Square Fiesta event. 

'The two individuals who were shooting at each other are deceased. Four others received non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured.'

He added: 'We have a very busy crime scene here. We're trying to sort everything out.

'We had two officers return fire, and he was just pronounced dead.'
