The body of a dead baby was found on the campus of the University of Tampa late on Sunday night.
The infant's remains were located close to McKay Hall, a dormitory used by first year students, reports Fox Tampa Bay.
The channel broadcasted images showing Tampa Police Department's forensic unit examining the scene close to the dorm, which is located in the center of the campus.
Students received a notification from school officials disclosing that there was an ongoing investigation at McKay Hall and to avoid the scene.
The baby's cause of death has not been made public. 'The circumstances surrounding the baby's death are under investigation,' a brief statement from the police read.
Officials also said that there is no outstanding threat to the public.

The University of Tampa is a private university with around 10,500 students attending in addition to staff of nearly 1,000.
The spring semester was due to wrap up on Monday with classes ending. The formal end comes on Friday with the school's graduation ceremony set for Saturday.
