Former NFL cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested for the second time in nine months after he allegedly assaulted multiple police officers while they responded to a drug-related call.

On Saturday, members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a call, resulting in the attempted arrest of Breeland.

Breeland allegedly did not go into handcuffs without issue, assaulting multiple police officers before being booked into jail.

The Super Bowl winner in 2020 with the Chiefs now faces assault charges on top of the drug-related charges he would have been booked for without resisting arrest, per the Charlotte Observer.

Last August, Breeland was also arrested after being found with drugs, guns and a stolen car. Breeland's 2023 case is still pending, per the Charlotte Observer. His next court date is scheduled for October.

At the time of Breeland's second arrest in nine months, firearms were also found at the home where he was taken into custody.

Breeland has not played in the NFL since 2021 with the Minnesota Vikings. He spent two years with the Kansas City Chiefs and was drafted by the Washington Commanders.

Among the drugs found in Breeland's possession were allegedly several containers of most likely marijuana and five bottles of promethazine hydrochloride, which is a sedative drug that is used to treat nausea.

The 31-year-old Breeland was also previously arrested in August 2020 on drug and alcohol charges and resisting arrest.

He pleaded guilty in October 2020 and sentenced to 30 days in jail from that incident.
