'This romcom offers a heady slice of appealing escapism fueled by the chemistry between its two leads,' was one response.

'An enjoyable romance that takes itself a tad too seriously in the second half, this film is driven by alluring turns from Hathaway and Galitzine,' commented another.

'Hathaway and Galitizine make their characters' drama fresh and sexy as hell, a fact enhanced by a strong script that treats its characters like people,' agreed another.

'Primarily works for a simple reason: Anne Hathaway is exceptionally great at romcoms,' one Rotten Tomatoes user declared.

'"Fanfiction turned novel turned movie" movie's are kind of my bread and butter and it is so delightfully refreshing to have one actually be good,' gushed another. 'A real treat for the genre, Hathaway and Galitzine nail the chemistry and dynamic.'

The highly anticipated film has been fielding claims that the pop star character in her new romantic comedy The Idea of You was inspired by Harry Styles.

Based on Robinne Lee's 2017 book, Anne stars as 40-year-old divorced mom Solène, who takes her teen daughter (Ella Rubin) to Coachella at the suggestion of her ex-husband (Reid Scott).

Last week, Anne told Stellar that the author of the novel on which the film is based, Robinne Lee, has denied any likeness to Styles.

'You guys keep saying it. The author keeps saying it's not!' the Princess Dairies alum told the publication.

'During the audition process, which I can speak to as I'm a producer on the film, we saw people from all backgrounds' she went on.

'The idea was we weren't looking for someone British. We were looking for Hayes Campbell.

'And if he happened to be British, that would be what Hayes Campbell would be in the film. And Nick was Hayes, so Hayes became British.'

Anne has been quick to shoot down rumors that the upcoming romantic comedy is inspired by the star's previous high-profile romance with older woman Olivia Wilde.
