Beyonce's mom Tina Knowles eviscerates Charles Barkley and Shaq for calling Texas' beaches 'dirty'

Beyoncé's mom, Tina Knowles, fired back at Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal after the former NBA stars called a Texas beach 'dirty' on TNT over the weekend. 

Barkley made mocking comments about the city of Galveston as he commented on the New Orleans Pelicans' 106-85 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Saturday's playoff game. 

Instead of 'going to Cancun, a common phrase used when teams are on the brink of playoff elimination, Barkley said they should be punished by 'going to Galveston.'

'We're not even going to send them to Cancun, we gone send them to Galveston with that dirty a** water be washed up on the shore,' Barkley said while laughing. 

Knowles slammed the NBA Hall of Famer in an Instagram post, as she wrote: 'Chuck, we don't play about Galveston, Texas! You better watch it, sucker!'

Shaq could not contain his laughter as Barkley made his remarks about the coastal city, a popular tourist destination located southeast of Houston

'Our water might not be blue, but it is still the beach and we love it! In fact, what you probably don't know is it's an island!!' she wrote in the post. 

The 70-year-old defended her hometown by saying she still wears a BOI necklace, meaning 'born on the island.' 

She continued: 'Jay sent this to me and Angie B Yesterday! He asked us if we're gonna let him talk about our city like that,' ending her post with: 'All good @charleswbarkley, we got a great laugh.'  

Barkley was quick to respond, sharing his apology video on Instagram where he said:  'Ms. Knowles, I don't want that smoke ... Ms. Knowles, I apologize. I don't want the BeyHive and Jay after me.' 

Barkley and Shaq sparked fury after they took shots at Galveston beaches while commenting on the Pelicans' performance on Saturday. 

'We're not getting them no plane ticket to the beach. We're sending their a** to Galveston, Texas, right where that dirty water washed up on the beach. They can't even get in the water,' Barkley said.

Other Lone Star state residents fired back at the former NBA stars, saying, 'Don't be hating on MY ISLAND.' 

'Galveston beaches are a lot like its people — a little rough around the edges. Trust me, Mr Barkley, we prefer it that way! You can stay home — we are busy enough!!' one person wrote. 

'Charles Barkley, here I was thinking we were cool, and then you go throwing shade like we're strangers. What's up with that?' another post reads.

Even Galveston city council member David Collins responded, as he told Houston Public Media, 'Mr. Barkley used the phrase "dirty water washed up on the beach."' 

'If anyone understands being washed up, it would be Mr. Barkley,' he said. 

Barkley appeared on TNT's NBA Tip-off show on Monday to apologize, though he doubled down on his opinion about Galveston beaches.  

'I had a great time in the local hangouts when we played there … You just can't go to the beach,' Barkley said. 

'Everybody was great to me in Galveston. But your beach was dirty as hell!' he said. 

The Saturday win gave Oklahoma City a 3-0 lead over New Orleans, and on Monday night, they closed out the series, heading into the Western Conference semifinals.
