Alec went on to explain his issues with cocaine started after he moved from New York to Los Angeles in 1983 and the habit soon took over his life.

He told the hosts: 'I had a white-hot problem every day for two years. I think I snorted a line of cocaine from here to Saturn ... Did one on the rings of Saturn, then we came home - we took it back home.

'I mean, cocaine was like coffee back then. Everybody was doing it all day long.'

Alec eventually gave up drugs, but then his drinking spiralled out of control. He explained: 'Because I stopped doing drugs, my drinking increased, which they tell you is going to happen. And that did happen. I just started drinking.'

The actor ended up having to give up booze too and he admitted it's the one thing he misses. He added: 'I don't miss drugs at all, but I do miss drinking. I like to drink.'

When asked what he does now instead of drinking, Alec revealed he likes to meditate but it's tricky to find peace and quiet at home with the seven kids he shares with wife Hilaria.

He said: 'I do try to meditate. [But] meditating with seven children is like trying to play ping pong on the deck of an aircraft carrier. It's a real pain in the ass, man.'

Prosecutors have said they offered the Hunt For Red October star a plea deal that would have resulted in probation and a $500 fine, but later rescinded it.

Attorneys for the state explained their reasons in court papers obtained by People.

'On October 5, 2023, the special prosecutors extended a plea offer to Mr. Baldwin as confidential and privileged plea negotiations and gave Mr. Baldwin until October 27, 2023 to accept the offer or the case would proceed to grand jury,' they contended.

Counsel for the State received no response at all — not even an email from defense counsel stating that they received the offer and would discuss it with their client,' they continued.

In an effort to keep the case out of court, the deadline was extended.

However, the prosecution then learned that the details had been leaked and an NBC reporter was 'provided all the details of the presumed confidential and privileged plea offer.'

'After determining that the reporter did indeed have all the details of the plea offer extended to Mr. Baldwin, undersigned counsel received additional information that Mr. Baldwin and his counsel were working with the media to generate a campaign designed to deflect attention away from any future plea hearing to protect Mr. Baldwin’s public image,' they said.
