According to Bryan Johnson, you can go from rotting teeth to a winning smile - and all it takes is an eight-minute oral hygiene routine.

'I used to have terrible oral health,' the millionaire biohacker said in a recent YouTube clip.

'My dentist now reports "you have the gums of a healthy teenager,"' the 46-year-old boasted. 'By following this routine and sticking to a Blueprint diet, my mouth is the healthiest it's ever been in my adult life.'

Bryan, who has become famous for his $2 million a year anti-aging routine - said his teeth were 'literally rotting' before he fixed his oral hygiene.

'My teeth were literally rotting I was losing attachment on my gums my teeth were not in a good place I had a lot of sugar in my diet - the situation was not good.'

According to Bryan, there are four baseline level measurements that are needed to measure oral health before beginning the extreme oral regiment.

'You don't know if you go to the dentist if they're going to do some big construction or they're going to have to repair a whole bunch of cavities - it's a really anxiety inducing,' he pointed out.

Bryan first of all advises to look at the pocket depth of teeth - which involves measuring from the top of the gum to the bottom of the gum's pocket.

'You want to see how deep that is,' he explained. 'If it's 1 to 3mm you're in good shape, if it's four to five it needs some work.

The second is teeth attachment, with the health nut advising to check the firmness of the tooth in the gum.

The third is plaque index - which is the hardened plaque around the tooth - and the fourth is how easy or hard it is is for your gums to bleed.

'Once you have those baseline measurements there's a rough idea where your oral health is,' Bryan explained.

The California biohacker's eight-minute routine begins with a water pick, which he says can cost anywhere from $40 to $200.

'It's a high pressure stream of water that comes out like a hose and you run it along the gum line around your entire teeth,' he explained.

The next step is flossing, for which Bryan uses a brand called Mr Tongues.

'It has a thicker string,' Bryan explained. 'In the studies we evaluated it showed a 25 per cent increase in the amount of plaque it could pick up from the smaller strands.'

'I use both a water pick and floss because they're each good and helpful at picking up debris at various parts of the gum,' he added.

Bryan uses an electric toothbrush to actually brush his teeth, preferring it because it cleans his teeth better.

'You may prefer a manual and that's just fine - find the one that's right for you,' he urged. 'Now with my electric toothbrush I prefer soft bristles versus hard because I find that it can clean just as well without the harsh friction.'

Bryan says he uses two types of toothpaste - one in the morning and one at night -  which he says it not for any particular reason, but because he simply enjoys using two different types.

The next step in his regime is a tongue scraper - which he says is 'really important.'

'The tongue gets kind of dirty just like the teeth do and it needs a cleaning - just like the teeth do,' he explains.

'You will notice a very big difference in oral health,' Bryan advises.

Next Bryan uses xylitol mouthwash, which he does for 'two circumstances.'

'When I'm about to be in close contact with others to avoid having bad breath,' he listed. 'Secondarily is if you're about to smooch and you want to be freshened up.'

The next step was one that's 'close to his heart' - a bruxism device to stop teeth grinding.

'For 20 years I was grinding my teeth at night,' he explained. 'So I'd go to bed I'd wake up and I would catch myself grinding my teeth - it was a really unpleasant sound and feeling.

Bryan's everyday oral care habits

  • Avoid sugar
  • Be careful of acidic liquids
  • Assess for dry mouth condition as saliva helps maintain the proper balance in the mouth

'It didn't stop my grind it just created a cushion for my teeth but it still created the wear and tear,' he explains.

'When you're grinding it not only just creates wear and tear on the teeth but also increases pocket depth, it increases attachment loss, it just ages your entire mouth.'

Bryan's other tip is to invest in some specialist cleaning by a professional every six months.

The tech mogul has made headlines over his controversial and unrelenting attempt to live forever, spending about $2 million per year on regimes to reverse his age, dubbing it: 'Project Blueprint.'

After spending $6 million in total to reverse his physical age, he claims to have turned back the clocks by five years.

Bryan has also spoken about his skincare routine, sharing he tries to minimize the time he spends in the sun by only venturing out when he can in the early mornings or in the evenings when the UV index is low.

According to the anti-aging biohacker, his lengthy skincare routine is working - and has already regressed his age.

'My skin age was like 64 on one of the markers, and on my recent measurement I think to between 37 and 42,' he said.

He now has the heart of a 37-year-old, the skin of a 28-year-old, and the fitness of an 18-year-old after adopting the highly-regimented program in 2020.
