Protestors screamed, jeered and waved recording cell phones in the faces of lawmakers during their tense tour through George Washington University's pro-Gaza encampment Wednesday.

Hundreds of people were at the university and its adjoining streets to see how the GOP galavant through the Gaza garden would go.

At the heart of the encampment the towering Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., held court receiving questions and slurs alike.

'How dare you call yourself a Christian,' one keffiyeh-wearing activist charged, 'you are contributing to the genocide of Palestinian[s].'

Donalds stopped and turned toward the man. Then the instigator stopped and left before the Republican could answer the question.

'See, we don't believe in debate here, we believe in yelling,' the Floridian said.

Then another agitator called Donalds, who is black, 'Uncle Tom' and 'a race traitor,' before being told to leave by other activists.

The visit was a show of force by House Oversight Committee Republicans who came to oversee the George Washington University (GWU) encampment to discern its impact on D.C. and student life.

'The House Oversight Committee is deeply concerned over reports indicating the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department rejected George Washington University’s request for help in removing the radical, antisemitic, and unlawful protestors occupying the campus and surrounding public lands,' Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement prior to the visit.

He was at the university along with fellow Oversight members Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla.

The committee has requested that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police (MPD) testify in a hearing May 8 on the student encampment and the city's response to the school's plea for help.

According to reports, MPD refused to intervene with the encampment despite requests from GWU to do so.

However, MPD has continuously been around to direct traffic, close streets as necessary and instruct passers-by and protestors as needed.

Following Donalds danced through the encampment followed by a horde of activists and media he arrived at a preset press conference podium where Boebert, Luna and Comer were addressing a growing crowd.

'If they don't want to do something to address this well kiss your federal funding goodbye,' Boebert said to boos.

'You can't do that,' one female activist screamed back.

Then Luna, holding a megaphone, said 'there are professional organized protestors that are not students who are currently inciting what you are seeing happening at this community right now.'

'There's also a big difference between the First Amendment and peaceful protest and intentionally preventing people from being able to get an education [and] intentionally trespassing on property.'

The GWU pro-Palestinian protest has been ongoing for a week.

Students have been camping out there like what has occurred at Columbia University and elsewhere. These activists have demanded that GWU divest from Israel-related entities, but the school has not budged.

Some Jewish students at the university told DailyMail.com last week they were 'afraid' of the camp and that the activists there often purvey 'pro-Hamas' messages.

The camp has continuously defied the university's demands to disband.

Instead, protestors and activists removed the fencing quartering off the quad and tossed all of the barricades in a pile in the middle of the encampment.

It stands there as a defiant reminder that the protestors are in charge.
