The internet has been sent into a frenzy after struggling to spot a rattlesnake lurking in a patch of grass - but can you find the deadly predator?

The head-scratching brainteaser was shared to Reddit earlier this week from a user in Northwestern Oklahoma.

The unnamed man uploaded the snapshot alongside a caption that simply read: 'Find the rattlesnake.'

It was soon flooded with comments from frustrated viewers admitting it was impossible to find as one wrote: 'Yeah my a** ain't surviving the wild.'

Following the widespread furor, the Reddit user provided further context in the comments as he explained: 'Lawnmower got it.

'When I got out and found out it was a rattlesnake, I decided to toss it in the higher grass, and take this picture, so I could show my daughters how hard it actually is to see a snake just hanging out.

'I think this is the only kind of rattlesnake we have [in Oklahoma]? Not sure.

'I just know we live so far from a hospital that several people have died from their bites, because they couldn't get there quickly enough. We definitely are wary of them.'

The user later uploaded a close up image of the rattlesnake's tail as well as another version of the image with the snake circled alongside a label that read: 'Politician spotted.'

The post was flooded with comments from users sharing that they were unable to spot it.

One person wrote: 'I don't like this game,' with a second person adding: 'That is absolutely terrifying.'

Another commented: 'S*** I can't zoom in real life.'

A fourth person wrote: 'Found... but I'd probably step on it. I'm already dead.'

Someone else added: 'Can confirm - would be dead.'

One person sarcastically wrote: 'It's right there in the grass.'

According to the Utah Division Of Wildlife Resources, there are several important things to note if you come across a rattlesnake in the wild.

'Remain calm and do not panic. Stay at least five feet from the snake. Make sure to give it plenty of space.

'Do not try to kill the snake. Doing so is illegal, and greatly increases the chance the snake will bite you.

'Do not throw anything at the snake, like rocks or sticks. Rattlesnakes may respond to this by moving toward the person doing the throwing, rather than away from them.

'Alert other people to the snake's location. Advise them to use caution, and to respect the snake. Keep children and pets away from the area.'

The organization also advised: 'Keep your dog on a leash when hiking or camping. Allowing your dog to roam around increases the chance the dog will find a snake and get bitten.

'If you hear a rattle, don't jump or panic. Try to locate where the sound is coming from before you react, so you don't step closer to the snake or on top of it.'
