A pair of teenagers who were caught dumping trash off a party boat in Florida have turned themselves in after authorities showed up to their parent’s house.

They were allegedly part of a group of revelers who were spotted pouring their cans and bottles into the Atlantic Ocean and openly celebrating the littering.

An investigation was then launched by the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) and a 15-year-old from Gulfstream and 16-year-old from Boynton Beach were identified using the boat’s registration.

They are now facing charges of third-degree felony of causing pollution, so as to harm or injure human health or welfare, animal, plant, or aquatic life or property, according to WFLA.

FWC officials met with the 15-year-old’s father who told them ‘this is not a representation of who we are.'

Video of the teenagers allegedly dumping trash into the ocean has gone viral and the FWC said the boat’s operator and a second individual were responsible.

They identified them by tracking down the owner of the boat and heading to their address.

Investigators were met by the 15-year-old’s father who asked to arrange a meeting with legal counsel present.

‘This has become a worldwide story,’ FWC Chairman Rodney Barreto during a commission meeting on Wednesday.

‘Over the weekend, my phone blew up. Hopefully, it will be a huge teaching moment for all of them.’

Colonel Brian Smith, the agency’s director of the division of law enforcement, previously said: ‘We need to send a message that Florida doesn't tolerate this and that we want to protect our environment.’

The teenagers are thought to have been part of Florida's annual Boca Bash which was in full swing last weekend.

Around 10,000 revelers took to the sea for a wild party as liquor flowed.

Officials arrested nearly 20 partygoers, unrelated to the trash incident, for charges related to boating under the influence and drug offenses.

The large group of people were booked into the Palm Beach County Jail by Tuesday morning, according to Boca News.

The incident has also upset locals who noted that no one in the boat discouraged the suspects from throwing the garbage.

'It just really infuriates you to see someone trash the ocean like that,' said Rodrigo Samsing, a local who often takes his boat out in those waters.

'You know, nobody else on the boat tried to stop them. Everybody was just celebrating,' he told WSVN.

What most angered Samsing is there was no immediate emergency that would've caused the partiers to need to dump the trash.

'I mean they already had the trash sitting in the garbage can, they could have just put a bag, grabbed a bag, filled it up and thrown it away. Instead, they just dump it carelessly into the ocean. It's just really sad to see,' he said.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection cited federal law in saying that boaters cannot dispose of any garbage 'from a boat while in lakes, rivers, bays, sounds and offshore within three miles of the ocean.'

Representatives for Boca Bash said they identified the partygoers and called their behavior 'completely unacceptable.’

Boca Bash added 'it is irresponsible boaters like this that have zero care for our oceans that give this event a bad reputation.'
