New York Yankees star Aaron Judge got ejected for the first time in his career in front of their home crowd on Saturday afternoon.

Judge got a quick turnaround when he struck out and made his displeasure heard at the bottom of the seventh.

Home plate umpire Ryan Blankley tossed the Yankee captain on his way back to the dugout before Judge came back to confront the official.

The heated yet still measured argument prompted Yankees manager Aaron Boone to hop out of the dugout to defend Judge and momentarily hold him back from Blankley.

'[I'm] very surprised,' Judge said when asked about the ejection. 'Especially a 5-3 game, late in the game, bat-on 3-2 count. You know, kind of walking away, saying my peace. I've said a lot worst.'

Despite losing their captain, the Bronx Bombers still secured a 3-5 victory at Yankee Stadium.

Judge is no stranger to having low strikes called against his favor, although Saturday's case came from a 3-2 fastball that appeared to clip outside the edge of the zone. Still, the 6-foot-7 slugger rarely shows his frustration with umpires.

In his first two at-bats on Saturday, Judge recorded a single and RBI double, scoring on both occasions.

When asked if the tension between him and the official had been brewing throughout the contest, Judge responded: 'No. I have a lot of respect for Ryan and what he does.'

'I know their job's tough,' he continued. 'I've always had their back because it's tough back there. So for that to happen that way, I think is what I'm most upset about. Especially late in the game.'

The win helped the Yankees to a 22-13 record as they sit second in the American League East after splitting their last 10 games, 5-5.

On the other hand, the Tigers dropped to 18-15, sitting fourth in the American League Central.
