Friends and family held their breath as Barry Morphew was seen sneaking into the Indiana church for murdered wife Suzanne Morphew's memorial service held on Saturday, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal – less than a week after an autopsy report confirmed her death by homicide.

Exclusive DailyMail.com photos show guests arriving for a celebration of life at Trinity Baptist Church in Westgate, Indiana – close to the small town of Noblesville where she grew up.

Husband Barry, 56, who was charged with her murder before the case collapsed, attended the ceremony, as did daughters Mallory and Macy who organized it.

Barry, who was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1986 although he never played in the Major Leagues, could be rearrested if investigators determine there is enough fresh evidence to charge him.

Guests at the invite-only event included Barry's older sister Kelly Gillen, niece Holly Clem and mother Shirley Morphew.

Suzanne's friends were also represented, with close friend Holly Wilson making a lengthy speech about happier times together.

An attendee told DailyMail.com: 'Barry and the girls didn't speak but Holly did. The pastor spoke and a family friend read some scripture. It was nice.'

Despite the simplicity of the service, Hamilton County sheriff's deputies were present to keep onlookers at bay – striking a jarring contrast to the family occasion but providing a reminder of the high-profile Suzanne's case has enjoyed.

Suzanne, who would have turned 53 last week, vanished from her home in Salida, Colorado,  almost four years ago, with neighbors raising the alarm after her daughters were unable to get in touch with her to wish her a happy Mother's Day.

In May 2021, Barry was arrested and charged with her murder but the case collapsed before it made it to trial and he is now suing Chaffee County for $15m in damages over the botched prosecution.

Last year, Suzanne's skeletal remains were discovered lying in a remote field outside Moffat – a small town 50 miles south of her home.

Police have now confirmed the cause of her death was 'homicide by undetermined means in the setting of butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine intoxication'.

All three drugs are powerful tranquilizers, with azaperone routinely used in veterinary medication while medetomidine is used as a surgical anesthetic.

Although the long-running case remains unsolved, the discovery of animal tranquilizer drugs in Suzanne's bone marrow echoes a theory advanced by the prosecution in arguments made in the pretrial hearing – that Barry had used the drugs to knock out his wife before killing her in a jealous rage.

During a series of hearings in September 2021, prosecutors revealed that the Morphews' ostensibly happy marriage was anything but – with Suzanne enjoying a two-year affair with her former classmate Jeff Libler, a married dad-of-six living in Michigan.

Suzanne's affair included overnight trips to Florida and New Orleans and she regularly sent her lover racy photos – including her final photo which showed her posing in a bikini top the day before she was reported missing.

Meanwhile, Barry had a profile on extramarital dating site Ashley Madison while texts between the couple included in prosecution evidence showed a series of explosive rows and one text from Suzanne telling her husband 'I'm done'.

Cops also discovered an empty animal tranquilizer cartridge tangled up among bedsheets in the dryer of the Morphew's $1.5m mountain home and noted that Barry had what appeared to be scratches on his forearms in the days after his wife's disappearance.

Although Barry had appeared on video making tearful appeals for his wife's return in the immediate aftermath of her disappearance, as DailyMail.com revealed at the time, police were instantly suspicious with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and local cops seen searching the couple's luxury home in the days after she vanished.

Also arousing suspicion were Barry's movements on the night she vanished, including vehicle tracking data showing his truck being moved in the early hours of the morning and, as DailyMail.com first reported in 2021, that he left a hotel room in Broomfield, Colorado, reeking of bleach and filled with shredded mail later the same day.

Barry's legal team pointed to two different male DNA profiles being found on the glovebox of Suzanne's car and the prosecution case collapsed in March 2022, resulting in the 56-year-old's release from the Chaffee County Jail.

Since his release, Barry has moved away from Colorado, as have his daughters who continue to support their father as they did publicly throughout the botched prosecution.

Suzanne's murder currently remains unsolved although the Colorado Bureau of Investigation released a statement following the announcement of the autopsy results in which they said they would continue to work on the case.

CBI boss Chris Schaefer said: 'The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and our law enforcement partners understand and appreciate the public interest surrounding this case.

'The investigative team assembled to work this case continues to follow the evidence and only the evidence as we seek justice for Suzanne's death.'
