President Joe Biden hosted Hispanic powerbrokers and a few celebs at a Cinco de Mayo party in the Rose Garden that featured margaritas, mariachi music, and slams on his unnamed 'predecessor' Donald Trump.
The president cheered the contributions of Mexican Americans, twice mentioning that he has a bust of Cesar Chavez in the Oval Office, while blasting Trump's plans to deport millions of illegal immigrants.
'We are a nation of immigrants and we shouldn't forget it,' he said. He defended new rules for expanding health care access to so-called 'Dreamers' who came to the country illegally as children. He also renewed his demand that Congress act to give them permanent status.
'Give me a break. These have been model citizens. Congress has to act.'

On a humid day in D.C., Biden blasted Trump for his recent Time Magazine interview.
'In the same interview my predecessor vowed to use the U.S. military to deport 11 million people here in America ... He called immigrants rapists and murderers,' he said.
'Folks, this is not who we are. That's not America,' Biden followed up.
Trump in the interview got asked if his deportation plans included the military.
'It would,' he responded, adding, 'when we talk military, generally speaking, I talk National Guard.'
He said he would 'have no problem using the military, per se.'
'These aren't civilians,' Trump said. 'These are people that aren't legally in our country. This is an invasion of our country.'
It comes in an election where Hispanic voters will again be pivotal and where Trump has been making new inroads.
