Hillary Clinton's longtime aide and friend Huma Abedin is a seasoned Met Gala guest - but this year saw her enjoying the event in a whole new light, alongside her latest love interest, billionaire heir Alex Soros.
Less than three months after going public with their romance in a sweet Valentine's Day post on Instagram, the couple took their relationship to the next level by attending their first Met Gala as a happy couple.
However, while Alex, 38, who is the son of billionaire George Soros and the heir to his family's business, shared two snaps of the pair getting ready to head off to the star-studded soiree, he opted to skip the red carpet upon their arrival - instead letting Huma, 47, face the cameras alone.
Huma, who was previously married to disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, put on a very elegant display on the carpet in a bold green Erdem dress, which featured several jeweled bug embellishments scattered across the front.
Longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her new boyfriend Alex Soros made their Met Gala debut as a couple on Monday night

However upon their arrival, Alex, 38, chose to skip the red carpet, allowing Huma, 47, to pose for photos alone in her dazzling green Erdem gown
Huma's most high-profile - and perhaps most turbulent - relationship was with disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, with whom she has previously attended the Met Gala (seen in 2016)
In a sweet nod to his girlfriend's ensemble, Alex also added a bug-themed touch to his look in the form of a gold bee-shaped pin that was attached to his bow tie.
Sharing images of the duo on his Instagram account, the billionaire heir captioned the first snap: 'A little buggy out,' while the second saw the two cozying up for a sweet selfie before making their way to the gala.
Once there, Alex quickly made his way inside, while Huma took her turn in front of the photographers, showing off her bold green dress, which featured a swathe of fabric hanging over one shoulder, and a nipped-in waist to accentuate her slim figure.
She paired the gown with a pair of glittering green earrings, and wore her brunette locks in a straight style, tucked behind her ears to let the dress take center stage.
Huma is no stranger to the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Met Gala, having attended for several years as a favored guest of her close friend Anna Wintour - including one appearance alongside her disgraced ex-husband back in 2016.
Since then however, she has ventured onto the red carpet solo, donning an array of high-end designer gowns in keeping with each theme.
This year, the bug-embellished design paid homage to the dress code for the night: The Garden of Time.
It is thought that Huma and Vogue boss Anna grew close while the former was working on Hillary's failed presidential campaign, and in the years since their bond has continued to grow.

Indeed, Huma regularly attends private dinners at Anna's home, where she has rubbed shoulders with a host of A-list stars behind closed doors.
In fact, Huma and Alex's attendance at the Met Gala came just one day after they made a rare public appearance as a couple at Anna Wintour's pre-Met Gala dinner.
The 47-year-old attended the event alongside 38-year-old beau Alex - and both were dressed to impress to suit the theme of the exclusive event: The Garden of Time.

The lace dress, which retails for $5,990, features a thin black tie around the waist, has a simple A-line silhouette with corset-boning and a scalloped trim.
Huma let her long raven tresses flow loosely and tucked her locks behind her ears before accessorizing with a black clutch and black pointed high heels.
Alex - who was previously named as the heir to his father's $25 billion empire - wore a light grey suit, which he paired with a sky-blue shirt and black leather shoes.
The loved-up pair left the event hand-in-hand.

Huma, who is Clinton's former aide, caused a stir in February after going public with her billionaire beau Alex - who is nearly 10 years her junior.
She made her public debut in February this year with Alex after he shared a snap of them enjoying a dinner date at a restaurant in Paris in honor of Valentine's Day.
The pair have kept a low profile since then and scarcely have been seen in public. In April, Page Six reported they were sitting courtside to watch the Knicks take on the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
The romance between the pair comes seven years after Huma divorced her former husband Anthony Weiner - who was engulfed in a number of high-profile scandals.
Weiner was caught on multiple occasions sending explicit snaps to various women - even during his political campaigns.
But he failed to learn from his missteps and was later sentenced to 21 months in prison after he began sexting a 15-year-old girl.
Huma, who had initially stood by him, eventually decided to pull the plug and the pair went their separate ways.

The former couple share a son, Jordan, who was born in 2011.
Huma was previously rumored to be dating Bradley Cooper for a short spell in 2022 - reportedly arriving at the Met Gala that year with The Hangover star before parting ways to keep their cover.
Huma is reportedly close friends with Vogue editor Anna Wintour and has attended the exclusive event since 2016.
The Costume Institute's spring exhibition falls on the first Monday in May every year and is held at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time.
The honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.
'This year's co-chairs reflect a variety of career achievements, and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala,' Vogue shared.
The showcase will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute's permanent collection - with many of the pieces too fragile to ever be worn again.
