A New Mexico couple who found a genie lamp while treasure hunting in the desert have been granted three wishes worth of a total of $1.2 million.

Ron Novak and Michelle Bush spent around three months across two trips in Dallas to find the coveted object as part of a competition run by Treasure Games company. 

Participants pay a subscription to receive clues leading to the hidden lamp. If successful, they can opt to get $1 million in cash or three wishes worth $1.2 million. 

Novak and Bush cracked a Seinfeld-themed clue to track down the genie bottle in the Texas brush...and have since received three life-changing wishes. 

'The initial moment, I was in shock,' Novak said as he recalled discovering the lamp while speaking with WWLP.

They opted to receive three gifts - a Sprinter van fit for their four dogs, an entire motel they want to renovate, and a charitable donation. 

The couple extended their trip by one day because they felt close to finding the artifact - and it paid off when they uncovered it on the final day.

Novak said their first gift was a donation to the Hare Krishna Food for Life Group, a charity which he credited with helping him get back on his feet when he was homeless. 

'For me, it was the biggest gift to be able to give them money for this because I used to be a taker. I just took, and I needed help and wanted help,' he told WWLP. 

The couple also purchased the Southwest Motel in Grants, New Mexico, which they're now working to fix up. 

They went about the treasure hunt in a tiny Subaru crammed complete with four canine passengers - so their third gift was a Sprinter van fit for their doggy family. 

'We bought the van for the dogs. That's an internal joke,' Bush told WWLP. 

They also plan to launch their own treasure hunt game with a grand prize of at least $5,000 for the winner. 

'It will be a lot easier than this one - meant to be solved within a weekend or a week,' Bush said. 

Treasure Games said their next genie bottle hunt with a $1 million prize starts in June.
