The takeaways from Stormy Daniels' wild testimony: Ex-president in 'satin pajamas', saying 'don't worry' about Melania, and how porn star 'reminded him' of Ivanka

Tuesday's Trump trial began with salacious claims by Stormy Daniels about spanking and bedding the future president in a Lake Tahoe hotel room – but ended with demands for a mistrial and claims she was fabricating sex claims out of greed and spite.

The porn star revealed new details about the alleged 2006 hookup while speaking under oath during a criminal trial with Trump seated just feet from the witness stand, including repeating her claim about swatting the future 45th president's behind.

It was a dramatic performance where she shared intimate details about their banter inside a a Nevada hotel suite, even as judge Juan Merchan yielded to defense lawyers' request that she keep sexual details to a minimum. (Her mention of the word 'missionary' drew an immediate objection).

She had told details of the affair before – discussing it in her own book, on Twitter, and in TV interviews. She had tried to sell her story, but also made an agreement to bury it. That left an opening for Trump's lawyers to exploit when she was finished describing her claims about what happened more than a decade ago.

Her appearance included comments about the Trump's daughter, his then-new wife Melania, and Trump's detailed questions about her business career and how she dealt with the risk of STDs.

While her comments riveted the courtroom, they also fed demands by Trump's team for a mistrial for sex claims that could prejudice the jury – and by Tuesday afternoon it was Daniels on her heels as the subject of fierce cross-examination.

He 'dared me' to spank him

'He dared me to do it and now I had to,' Daniels said of the spanking, retelling a story about a copy of Forbes magazine that had Trump on the cover.

'I took it from him and said turn around and swatted hm' she testified.

She said that after she swatted him, 'He was much more polite.' Trump shook his head in apparent disagreement – in a sign of how his team would try to poke holes in her story.

The judge and lawyers tried to limit the sex talk, but that didn't keep Daniels from offering testimony about Trump's bedroom.

Separate beds

'He showed me a few pictures and I said what about your wife, she’s very beautiful,' Daniels said of the future first lady, a former model, describing another element of their wide-ranging discussion.

'Oh don’t worry about that. We actually don’t sleep in the same room,' she says Trump told her.

Talk also turned to Ivanka Trump, who had a prominent role on NBC's 'The Apprentice.' Daniels says Trump dangled a potential cameo for the exotic dancer who got introduced to him as a film 'director.' That was one reason she said she kept in touch with Trump even after the encounter she said rattled her.

'Even you don't have that much power,' she said she told him about getting on the show, having revealed she didn't know much about Trump's background when she first got introduced to him.

Adult film star reminded him of Ivanka for being underestimated

'He said you remind me of my daughter, she is smart, people underestimate her as well,' she said.

Stormy gave a more detailed account of that bit of the conversation in her new documentary.  She descried it as a subject that allowed the porn star and real estate baron to bond.

'He told me he reminded me of his daughter. I felt like he was being sympathetic to me. Ivanka is beautiful and she's blonde and I'm sure she's had people assume that she's an idiot. But I felt like as this father figure who has watched his daughter being treated a certain way could identify with me.  I thought we had this mutual respect,' she said.

'Which is why it was so crazy when having no red flags whatsoever in a conversation I came out of the bathroom to find myself cornered. I don't remember how I got on the bed. It was awful. But I didn't say no,' she said in the film.

'Does Mr Hefner know you stole his pajamas?'

Daniels spoke about her surprise when she first met Trump inside the foyer of his hotel room, after an introduction from former Trump security chief Keith Schiller.

Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger asked what Trump was wearing. She said he was 'wearing silk or satin pajamas that I immediately made fun of.

'Does Mr Hefner know you stole his pajamas?' she says she asked him, in a reference to Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner.

Hoffinger asked her about Hefner being known to wear his PJs in public.

'Sort of his signature,' was Daniels' dry reply, in a comment that got no reaction from Trump.

'I told him to go change and he obliged straight away,' she added, in one of multiple comments about the evolving power dynamic between them.

The 'brief' sexual encounter

By Tuesday afternoon, Daniels was finally testifying about the sexual encounter she says preceded the hush payments that have Trump facing 34 criminal counts of falsifying financial records.

After a few hours of speaking inside Trump's suite, she went to use the bathroom, she said. She rummaged through his toiletry bag to uncover a bottle of Old Spice, which she found 'amusing and odd,' as well as a pair of gold tweezers.

She was startled to find Trump on the bed outside the door. He was wearing only boxer shorts and his t-shirt, she said.

Daniels said she 'wasn't expecting someone to be there minus their clothing.'

She said Trump stood between her and the door. 'He said said i thought we were getting somewhere…If you ever want to get out of that trailer park.'

It was a remark that Daniels, who testified about her troubled upbringing, said offended her.

At one point, she says she 'just blacked out,' although she wasn't drugged, and she and Trump were just drinking water.

Asked if the pair ended up on the bed having sex, she replied simply, 'Yes.'

Asked to briefly describe the event, she said, 'Next thing I know, [I] was on the bed, the opposite side of the bed, I had my clothes and my shoes off. My bra was still on. Missionary position.'

That brought an objection from the defense that the judge sustained.

'Without describing the position, do you remember how you got your clothes off?' the prosecutor asked her.

'No,' Daniels replied.

'Was he wearing a condom?' Hoffinger asked.

'No.'

'Was it brief?'

'Yes,' she responded.

Trump's lawyer demands a mistrial

Daniels' repeated statements sharing intimate details about the encounter drew a furious objection from Trump lawyer Todd Blanche after a lunch break.

‘The testimony about the alleged incident in 2006, a lot of the testimony is way different than the story she was peddling in 2016,' he told Judge Merchan, arguing that it would prejudice the jury against Trump.

‘There was testimony today about being blacked out, not weaning a condom which was after testimony from her employer you had to wear a condom [during work], the height of the two individuals, the spacing the room, the power dynamic, the question do you want out of the trailer park.

‘All of this has nothing to do with this case and is extraordinarily prejudicial,' he said. ‘The only reason the govt asked those questions aside from pure embarrassment is to inflame the jury not to look at the evidence that matters but just to hear from this witness’.

Judge Merchan was unpersuaded. He said he sustained most of Trump's objections, even intervened on his behalf at one point.

‘I was surprised there were not more objections….and in fact at one point the court objected because there was no objection coming from the defense,' he said.

'When you say the bell has been rung, the defence has to take some responsibility for that,' the judge added.

Stormy admits she 'hates' Trump under withering cross-examination

It was not surprise when Trump lawyer Susan Necheles began going hard at Daniels during cross-examination, with questions designed to expose her as angry, defiant, and driven by hate and greed.

'You hate President Trump,' Necheles asked her.

'Yes,' she replied.

'And you want him to go to jai?' That brought Daniels to say: 'I want him to be beheld accountable.'

She was confronted with a tweet she had posted that read, 'I’ll dance down the street when he’s ‘selected’ to go to jail’.

The porn star was an inviting target when Necheles wanted to paint her as driven by a desire for money.

'You started acting in porn to make more money?' she got asked. 'Correct.'

She admitted she 'lost' her defamation case against Trump, and said she had no intention of paying him what a court ordered her to pay.

She confirmed she hadn't paid the $560,000 she owes Trump for legal fees.

'I choose not to make a payment,' she said. Then she got confronted with a 2022 tweet where she wrote, 'I will go to jail before I pay a penny.'

‘I don’t owe him s*** and I’ll never give that orange turd a dime’ she wrote in another missive that year.

Mysterious parking lot incident

Then, it was time for Necheles to try to poke holes in Daniels' story about being confronted by a man in a parking lot back in 2011 while accompanied by her daughter. Daniels has long described the episode as a chilling effort to silence her from telling her story.

Necheles questioned her about why she went to the class, but didn't tell the instructor, or her husband, or call the police.

'The reason you told this in 2018 is you were using it as an excuse why you never publicly said so before?' Necheles asked, getting a denial.

‘You use this supposed threat as an excuse to tell people this is why I didn’t talk publicly?’ Necheles followed up. Daniels said she spoke on a Tampa radio show back in 2007. But Necheles had already quizzed her on why she told different versions of the story to The Dirty in 2011 (saying there was no affair with Trump) versus negotiating with InTouch magazine for an interview about sex with Trump.

‘This man never existed?’ Necheles told her.

‘He absolutely existed,’ Daniels shot back.

‘The whole story was made up?’ said Necheles.

‘None of it was made up,’ Daniels responded.

Trump vents his fury – after appearing to doze off

Despite the drama in the courtroom, there were times when Trump appeared to check out during the 13th day of his criminal trial.

At one point he leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed. He briefly opened them, then closed them again, in a courtroom that was warmer that it had been earlier when he complained it was 'freezing' inside.

That didn't keep him from getting his verve back when the judge decided it was time to call it a day.

'They have nothing on books and records and even something that should bare very little relationship to the case. It's just a disaster for the DA, the Soros-backed DA is a disaster,' he said of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. 'This whole case is just a disaster.'
