Designer Oscar de la Renta is giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to craft Lauren Sánchez's dress for the 2024 Met Gala - with Jeff Bezos's fiancée joking during one fitting that she 'didn't need to breathe.'

Sánchez, who is a former TV journalist and vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund, stunned on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City wearing a custom gown by the designer, which featured a tight black corset bodice with big mosaic pearl and shattered mirrored pieces on the bottom of the dress.

The glittering shards on the dramatic skirt were meant to look like a 'shattered, stain-glass rose,' according to Vogue, and was made up of 2,000 hand-painted pieces.

It was a rendition of the brand's Art Nouveau fall 2024 collection, the outlet reported, which had nods of inspiration from the glasswork of artist Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Now, Oscar de la Renta is showing off the intricate details and work that went into the design process in a new video posted to Instagram just days after the star-studded event.

In the clip, the fiancée of Amazon tycoon Bezos is seen walking into the design studio in a sleek, cropped white jacket and casual pair of loose jeans.

'Oh my gosh,' she said, as she greeted Fernando Garcia, a creative director at Oscar de la Renta, and co-creative director Laura Kim with a warm embrace.

As she hugged Garcia, who seemed to say that he had been working on another project when she arrived, Sánchez joked, 'What do you mean you're working on someone else? You're mine!'

The video showed the sketches for her elaborate gown, as well as the design board for the star's entire look.

They also gave a glimpse of how it was sewn together, as the videographer zoomed in on designers sewing in black tulle to the skirt.

In the background of the close-up shots, Sánchez was heard gushing that she loved the dress.

The mogul was also seen getting fitted for the garment, as the dress started off with just a bare-bones corset and black skirt.

As the corset was being fitted on her body, Sánchez hilariously joked, 'I don't need to breathe!'

The first skirt, which seemed to act as the base of the garment, was large and dramatic, made from black tulle.

The mirror shards were put onto a separate, dramatic skirt that was overlaid on top, which they had to lift over her head in order to put on.

Sánchez looked super excited as she was trying on the dress, admiring its stunning details in the mirror.

In an interview with Vogue a few days before the Met Gala, Sánchez admitted that she wanted to go in a different direction from her usual 'sexy' looks.

She told the outlet that initially Garcia showed her sketches of dresses that were a bit more revealing.

'If you saw them, you'd be like, "Oh, that’s very Lauren" — extremely sexy, low cut,' she said.

'I go, "No, I think I'm going to try something different."'

The mom-of-three furthered that she felt the design she chose was 'extremely unique' and very feminine.

She even admitted that she felt like the dress had an extra special meaning.

'In my head, it's definitely a metaphor for life because it's a little bit about all your broken pieces in life and putting those pieces back together,' she explained to Vogue.

'It's not just a dress. It is really a piece of art.'

The A-list affair is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in Manhattan, led by Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour since 1995.

This year's theme was Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and the official dress code was Garden of Time.

Attendees included Kim Kardashian, Bad Bunny, Usher, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, and Naomi Campbell, among others.
