Patrick Beverley has been suspended by the NBA for four games without pay to begin next season after he pegged a basketball multiple times at people in the crowd during last Thursday's Game 6 of the Milwaukee Bucks' playoff series against the Indiana Pacers.
The length of Beverley's suspension was also determined based on his actions against an ESPN reporter during the ensuing media availability, where she was told she could not interview him because she was not subscribed to his podcast.
Beverley will be forced to serve the suspension next season due to the Bucks already being eliminated from the playoffs by the Pacers.
The 35-year-old Beverley is under police investigation from aggressively throwing the ball at fans. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed an investigation into the incident is underway.
'The report has been forwarded to IMPD detectives, who are currently investigating this situation and take all accusations seriously,' IMPD said in a statement. 'Detectives are working with Gainbridge Fieldhouse to review video footage and plan to speak with the parties involved.'

Beverley chucked the ball into the Gainbridge Fieldhouse crowd on multiple occasions
Beverley has apologized for both sets of actions after the Bucks' season-ending loss to the Pacers a week ago.
Beverley's initial throw into the Gainbridge Fieldhouse crowd appeared to miss his target and hit a woman in the head. After a nearby fan lobbed the ball back to the 14-year veteran, Beverley threw an strong chest pass into the stands.
As Beverley appears to have jawed with someone in the crowd after his aggressive toss, the escalation led security to intervene.
During the Bucks post-game locker room availability, Beverley bizarrely asked ESSPN reporter Malinda Adams out of nowhere if she subscribed to his podcast. When she said no, he replied: 'You can't interview me then. No disrespect.'
As another reporter tried to ask Beverley a question, he told Adams to 'get that mic out of my face please' while physically touching Adams' microphone on multiple occasions.
Afterward, Beverley pushed away the microphone of ESPN reporter Malinda Adams
When Adams put it back towards him to get his answer, Beverley told her to 'get out of the circle please if you're not subscribed to my podcast. I appreciate it.'
Even with Beverley's apology, which Adams said she received, alongside condolences from the Bucks organization, the longtime NBA star is banned from appearances on the mega sports network, per Front Office Sports.
Beverley only had six points in 40 minutes in his final game of the season, the least of any Bucks starter in their elimination game.
Beverley will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, with his suspension and actions likely coming into play for his next contract.
Beverley had only been playing for Milwaukee since a February trade from the Philadelphia 76ers.
