Whoopi Goldberg has admitted that she doesn't enjoy moderating her much-loved ABC program The View as much as she used to.

The 68-year-old actor joined the daytime show back in 2007 and currently sits on the panel alongside Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

During an interview on Who's Talking To Chris Wallace? Whoopi was asked if she likes working on the show, and she didn't hold back with her response as she revealed: 'I liked it better before because there was not... people didn't assume that you were starting out to be nasty or horrible or saying stuff.'

Elaborating further, Whoopi continued: 'You used to say something and somebody would say, "Well, actually that's not so," and you could make that adjustment or you could say, "Well, this is why I thought about it this way," but you can't do that anymore.

'Nobody wants to hear what you were thinking. They're only saying, "That's what you said and that must mean that your whole life is that," and it's like wow!'

Chris, 76, replied: 'And this gets back to the idea of the weaponization of an opinion...,' as Whoopi added: 'I feel like now you're always having to hedge what you say because you don't want to p*** people off.'

The broadcast journalist then said: 'Well I was gonna ask you, is there anything that p***es you off right now that you'd like to say?'

Whoopi replied: 'Yeah, but if I say it, it's only going to be a problem! It's only gonna be a problem for you!'

Elsewhere in the interview, Chris was keen to talk to Whoopi about her thoughts on marriage and mentioned the fact that she had been divorced three times.

'Why are you not meant for marriage? You don't want share?' Chris asked, to which Whoopi replied: 'No, I don't, I don't care how you feel,' before she burst out laughing.

'It's terrible. You know, when you're married to somebody, you have to be invested in how they're feeling and I am not.

'I'm invested in my kid, I'm invested in her kids, I'm invested in my son-in-law, I'm invested in my friends, but I'm not invested in a relationship that would require as much as having a child requires and I know that that's not for me.'

She then added: 'And so I am not adverse to hit and runs. I know you're not supposed to say that, but I think you must say it because not everybody is meant to be married, but many people enjoy sex, so sometimes a little hit and run is not bad.'

Whoopi was previously married to her drug counselor, Alvin Martin, from 1973 until 1979, cinematographer David Claessen from 1986 until 1988, and then wed actor Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994, but they got divorced the following year.

Whoopi had already spoken about this aspect of her personal life in her new memoir, Bits And Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, And Me, which was released on May 7.

In the book, Whoopi admits: 'It took me a long time to figure out it was also cheaper to "just have a party instead." At this age, I don't even bother with a party, who needs the aggravation? It's all about a "hit and run."'

She continues: 'And I have them only with someone who completely understands that this is only a "hit and run." I don't even want to have to toss empty beer bottles in the recycle bin after somebody hung out too long. I don't need anybody to stick around after that at all.'

Referring to her three weddings, the Oscar winner says: 'I married three times before realizing I was better off being singular full-time.'
