A wife has urged others to sleep separately from their partner after it saved her marriage.

Mother-of-one Jess told TikTok followers she and her husband have not slept in the same bed for two and a half years.

The 28-year-old confessed the couple have barely slept a wink since their toddler Dylan was born two and a half years ago.

'Being sleep deprived has absolutely wreaked havoc on our jobs. Our daily lives and our relationship together as well,' Jess explained

Confessing they were on the verge of splitting, she added: 'The crazy thing is me and my husband nearly divorced over sleep.

The pair took the leap of sleeping in separate beds since last November in a bid to see if they could finally get their toddler to sleep - and have not looked back since.

'For our relationship as well its done absolute wonders. We don't fight anymore,' she said.

Divulging that he lack of sleep may not have only impacted her relationship but contributed to her poor health, Jess decided to sleep in a spare bed in Dylan's room.

After installing the double bed into the two-year-old's room, the couple made the conscious decision Jess would sleep in there, whilst her husband stayed in their original bed.

Miraculously, her toddler has managed to sleep through the entire night since the change in sleeping arrangements.

Jess also gleefully admitted as a result of the unconventional change both she and her husband get along better as they are both now well rested.

'[If] you're in the same boat as us, I would 1,000% recommend this because I get a really good nights sleep so does my husband so does my toddler too,' Jess concluded.

However the mother's less than ordinary sleeping arrangements have left many divided, as several vehemently against the suggestion.

'I couldn’t imagine this, as soon as our boy's in bed we’re in bed cuddling,' one shared.

A second penned: 'Me and my husband miss each other if the other isn't next to each other.'

'If that works for you I couldn’t not sleep with my husband.

'He’s my rock my soulmate. We work together to get kids sleep. Start early keep routine,' a third chimed.

'People just can’t train [their] kids to sleep,' another said, whilst one used added: 'So it's because of the kid? I can't help but think this isn't good for the kid.'

But others also defended the mother, claiming their relationships have improved since sleeping separately from their partner.

'Me and my partner no kids but sleep in separate rooms. He snores like a pig and I grind my teeth like a donkey. We’re both much happier,' one wrote.

'Sleeping separately happens in so many households, it needs normalising,' a user stated.

'We've had separate rooms for over 10 years. I swear we are much kinder to each other as my insomnia and his snoring aren't doing battle every night,' another shared.
