Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in five of six key battleground states new polling found, as the Democrat has lost support among the nonwhite and young voters who formed his winning coalition four years ago.
On Monday, The New York Times, Siena College and The Philadelphia Inquirer released the latest series of battleground polls, with the numbers largely unchanged since the last set of polls were published in November. Biden didn't get a boost from the stock market climbing 25 percent or from ads his campaign has run in the six key states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
At the same time, Trump hasn't been politically damaged by the Stormy Daniels hush money trial, the surveys found.
Instead, Biden is trailing Trump among registered voters by 12 points in Nevada and 10 points in Georgia, and losing to the Republican by smaller margins in Michigan, Arizona and Pennsylvania.
Biden is leading Trump by two points in Wisconsin, which is within that survey's plus or minus 4.5 percent margin of error.
Former President Donald Trump is beating President Joe Biden in five of six battleground states, New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and Siena College polling found. Biden currently only has an edge in Wisconsin after winning all six states in 2020
Former President Donald Trump appears at a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey this weekend. The new polling found that he's eaten into Biden's support among young, Latino and black voters, which make up the Democrat's coalition to best Trump four years ago
In the smaller pool of likely voters, Trump still leads Biden in five states - with Biden pulling ahead of Trump in Michigan, but narrowly falling behind the ex-president in Wisconsin.
When third party candidates are factored in, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wins about 10 percent of the vote across the six swing states.
The other third-party hopefuls combined - independent Cornel West, Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Lars Mapstead - soak up about 3 percent.
In that scenario, Trump continues to win five of the six battleground states - and Trump and Biden are tied in Wisconsin.
Biden won all six of these battleground states in 2020 - but would only need to win Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin in order to stay in the White House.
The president is in trouble because he's lost support among young, Latino and black voters.
Among age groups, 81-year-old President Joe Biden trails Trump in all the categories except for with voters 65 and older, the polls found. Biden is essentially tied with Trump for the youth vote, which upends decades of Democratic dominance with this group
Pollsters found that Biden and Trump are essentially tied among 18-to-29-year-olds - which blows up decades of Democratic dominance of the youth vote.
Trump wins 46 percent of the youth vote, while Biden only brings in 43 percent, the polls found across the six states, when the candidates are in a head-to-head match-up.
The only age group where Biden beats Trump is those 65 and older - a group Republicans have traditionally won.
Additionally, the two candidates are tied among Hispanics - as Trump's team, for years, has tried to make inroads into the Latino community.
Biden wins 45 percent to Trump's 42 percent.
Black voters are supporting Trump by more than 20 percent - the highest level of support given to a Republican presidential candidate since the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Times pointed out.
The poll found across six states, 63 percent of black voters are for Biden, while 23 percent are for Trump.
