Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's famed fashion house The Row has launched a new jelly-style plastic shoe - and they will only set you back $890.

The new Mara flat, which is made completely out of Polyvinyl chloride - a synthetic polymer of plastic, features an open, woven pattern throughout, leaving some parts of the skin exposed.

They were featured as a part of the brand's Pre-Fall 2024 collection, and include a corkscrew insole.

And, straying away from the brand's typical 'quiet luxury' and understated designs, the nearly $900 flat also comes in four colors, including a bold red and light ocean blue.

Vogue has already featured the shoe in their roundup of the best jelly sandals to wear this summer, while their British counterpart named it as one of the new fashion arrivals they have been loving.

In recent years, jelly shoes have made a resurgence, with A-list actress Jennifer Lawrence even sporting a sparkly pink pair while out and about in New York City two years ago, and Emma Roberts wearing a similar shoe to Coachella 2023.

Taylor Swift even wore a hot pink pair in some of her promo photos for her 1989 album.

But if you find yourself wanting to join in on the trend and add a pair of these quirky slip-on shoes by The Row to your wardrobe, you'll have to get in line.

The Mara flat is currently sold out on The Row's website - only available by signing up on the waitlist.

And, at retailer Neiman Marcus, they're available for pre-order, and will ship in late August.

But some fashion aficionados aren't sold on the shoe quite yet.

This week, Row Archive Instagram account @maisontherow posted a few pictures of the flats to their feed, asking followers what they thought of them.

Some were left completely horrified, while others complained about the hefty price tag.

Another agreed, 'The thought is I wish I could afford them.'

'Not sure how they will wear on a humid summer's day…' someone else chimed in.

One user quipped, 'I had those when I was four.'

'Terrible,' another Instagram user typed.

A few even compared the shoe's look to that of the Melissa Jelly Shoes, which were the original maker of the nostalgic jelly shoe.

The brand was founded in 1979, and subsequently became super popular in the 1980s.

Their shoes, however, only retail for around $70, seemingly giving the same look for a lot less.

But it looks like The Row isn't the only fashion label capitalizing on this trend.

Other brands, like fast fashion house Mango, as well as designers Valentino and even Hermès are now putting their own spin on the plastic shoes.

So, if you're thinking about taking the plunge, now might be the time to get your jelly shoes - before they're all sold out for the summer.
