A fat pride influencer who's called for regular travelers to subsidize free extra seats for plus-size fliers has claimed she was sent by God to push her message to the world.
Jaelynn Chaney, known as Jae Bae, uploaded a video to her TikTok channel lip-syncing to a song while changing the lyrics in the captions to fit her message pushing for 'equal rights' for fat people.
'Yeah, God sent this fat b**** to piss the world off and make change,' she wrote in the nearly two-minute video posted on Monday.
'Oh no fatphobes tweakin in the comments,' she continued.
In the caption, Chaney explained to her 135,000 followers that speaking up about a world that demonizes fatness is an 'act of defiance.'
She wrote: 'In a world where thinness is glorified and fatness demonized, speaking out becomes an act of defiance.'
Jaelynn Chaney, known as Jae Bae, has claimed she was sent by God to push her message to the world
She uploaded a video to her TikTok channel lip-syncing to a song while changing the lyrics in the captions to fit her message pushing for 'equal rights' for fat people
'When thin individuals voice discomfort over small airplane seats or societal standards, they're met with empathy and action. But when I, as a plus-size person, dare to raise similar concerns, the response is vastly different.'
In the video, she claims that she faces injustice and feels overweight people are treated unfairly.
'Instead of addressing the systemic issues, I'm met with hostility, blamed for my size, and told to "fix" myself if I want change. It's a glaring example of the unequal treatment faced by fat people in society.'
Expressing relentless determination in the fight against fat-phobia, she promised she won't 'back down' and plans to continue to 'provoke' and 'demand change.'
'Until society recognizes the inherent value and rights of all bodies, regardless of size, I won't back down,' she wrote. 'I won't let the discomfort of others silence me or hinder progress.'
Earlier this month, the influencer announced that she flew without her oxygen tank for the first time in four years. She has called for regular travelers to subsidize free extra seats for plus-size flyers
'Yes, I'll continue to provoke, challenge, and demand change. And if that makes the world uncomfortable, so be it. Because at the end of the day, this isn't just about me—it's about ensuring fairness and dignity for all.'
Earlier this month, the influencer announced that she flew without her oxygen tank for the first time in four years.
She said she'd previously required supplemental air to ensure she could breathe comfortably in the pressurized plane cabin.
At one point in the video, Chaney holds up her seatbelt and smiles as she demonstrates how much it is extended.
As dramatic music plays, Chaney ponders: 'What if I have a medical emergency on the plane?'
Then she asks, 'What if I cause an emergency landing?'
But she stops herself and announces, 'No, forget that. No matter what they say, and no matter what it looks like, travel is for everybody.'
The plus-sized influencer, who has over 135,000 TikTok followers, has previously called on the FAA to provide overweight individuals with up to three free seats when flying
The video then shows Chaney being wheeled down an airport gate and onto the plane.
Then Chaney is shown in her seat, where she exhibited just how much her seatbelt has been slackened.
The TikTok ends with a close-up of the plus-sized influencer's grinning face.
In her caption, Chaney explains the context of her flight, recounting how for the past four years she has relied on 'supplemental oxygen' when flying.
'It all started back in 2019 after a hospital stay where they suspected I had a stroke,' Chaney wrote.
'Turns out, it was pulmonary hypertension, and I needed oxygen therapy ever since. Traveling just wasn't the same anymore.'
