The Surgeon General reponsible for the health of former President Donald Trump has an intriguing nutrition hack that he says helps him live longer.
Dr Jerome Adams, who served from 2017 to 2021 and is an anesthesiologist, swears by a smoothie, which he drinks daily.
But it's not any smoothie. Dr Adams includes four specific items that he says work together to offer a host of benefits.
They are spinach, almond milk, frozen fruit such as strawberries or mangoes, and carrots.
Not only is the fruity drink full of essential micronutrients, he says it is filling and therefore stops him snacking.

Dr Adams, who is now a director at Purdue University in Indiana, says the smoothies help him eat fewer ultra-processed foods, like sugary cereals, soft drinks, ready meals and processed meats.
He told Business Insider: 'I'm not a person who really loves a lot of fruits and veggies.
He was the surgeon general in the US from 2017 to 2021
'[But] the best way for individuals to protect themselves is to incorporate and substitute vegetables and fruits for processed grains and artificial foods whenever we can. Smoothies are a way I accomplish this.'
He added: 'You can literally get a full day's serving of fruits and veggies in one smoothie.
'You don't even taste the spinach. That's my hack.'
Several studies have linked eating more fruits and vegetables to a longer life, including a 2021 study suggesting eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day is linked to a significantly reduced risk of death from heart and respiratory disease.
Eating more fruits and vegetables can also help to manage body weight, as produce is low in calories.
It improves digestive health and inflammation in the body — which can help to extend lifespan.
Dr Adams has the smoothie either before leaving home or right after he gets home, throwing the ingredients into a blender for a quick fix.
Dr Adams noted some people add yogurt to smoothies, but he skips this ingredient because he is lactose intolerant.
While Surgeon General, Dr Adams' priorities were addressing the opioid epidemic and the untreated surge in mental illness.
But work was put on hold when Covid emerged in 2020, with Dr Adams appointed to the pandemic taskforce.
During this time, he made statements including that Covid masks may not help people avoid catching Covid — later backed by research from the prestigious medical body the Cochrane Society.
The Trump administration was reported to have sidelined him by April 2020. He was later asked to step down in January 2021 by the Biden administration.
Dr Adams also previously praised Trump's diet, saying the then-President was 'healthier' than the Surgeon General himself.
During an interview in March 2020, he said: '[President Trump] sleeps less than I do and he's healthier than what I am'.
