An influencer has been roasted for destroying what looks like a $5,000 Gucci bag - but her reason for doing it may just be for the sake of fashion.
Victoria Paris, a popular influencer who boasts over 1.9 million followers on TikTok, shared the since-deleted video on April 30, per Business Insider, explaining that she was 'Olsen twin Jane Birkining' the large Gucci Jackie shoulder bag.
In the clip, the social media star, who is now based in Los Angeles, was seen aggressively throwing a purse against wooden steps to make it look like it was worn in.
Many believed that the bag she was destroying was the nearly $5,000 purse that she had excitedly unboxed in an April 1 video, but some suggested that it might not be the same bag.

Paris first shared a video of her excitedly unboxing the expensive bag, which received over 742,000 views.
She did not specify if the designer purse had been gifted to her or not, either.
And, while it's unclear if she was being satirical or not in her video beating up the accessory, many users have taken issue with the seemingly egregious act.
One TikTok user, who goes by the name @floorkruk, made a clip reacting to Paris reportedly destroying the bag, showing the purse's exorbitant price to followers.
The reaction video garnered nearly 1,000 comments from people who just couldn't believe their eyes.
'I had to pick up my jaw from the floor... WHY?? Isn't the whole point to let the bag age by itself with use???' one person wrote.
Another agreed, 'Why would she not just… use the bag to get it to look like she wants!'
Others complained that they were struggling to afford necessities themselves, and it made them angry to see a video of her reportedly wrecking a nearly $5,000 purse.

The expensive bag retails for nearly $5,000, and comes in a few different colors, but Paris was the proud owner of the black leather version

'Seeing that while I'm sitting here in pain because I can't afford to get a root canal and a new dental crown… p**ses me off,' a TikTok user typed.
Someone else wrote, 'Yet most of us are deciding between getting gas or food this week lol.'
'That's almost the exact amount of medical debt I have,' another admitted.
'The way that could be a dent in one of my debts and she's just trashing it,' one person chimed in.
But some defended her, with a TikTokker claiming, 'It was a joke. She trashed a different (old) bag, not the expensive Gucci one.'
'Didnt she like buy it? So she can do whatever she wants to do with it,' another seconded.
DailyMail.com reached out to Paris for comment.
However, despite the backlash, Paris' tactic was one that was inspired by the legendary access Jane Birkin, the icon who inspired the famed Hermès Birkin in the 1980s.
Jane Birkin, the icon behind the Birkin bag, was known for carrying them worn and decorating them with charms and stickers

She came up with the design on an airplane, while she was seated next to Jean-Louis Dumas, the CEO of Hermès at the time.
Birkin sketched out the design on the back of a barf bag - and the rest was history.
She was famous for carrying beat-up Birkin bags, using no more than one at a time until it had completely run its course.

'There's no fun in a bag if it's not kicked around, so that it looks as if the cat's been sitting on it — and it usually has,' Birkin told Vogue during a 2011 interview. 'The cat may even be in it!'
