An Ohio bar has sparked backlash after banning people under the age of 30 on the weekends following reports of a fight in the watering hole.

Donerick's Pub in Groveport, around 12 miles south of Columbus, angered local patrons earlier this month after sharing a flyer announcing that they were hosting '30 & Up Friday and Saturday Nights.'

'NO EXCEPTIONS' the flyer added.

Many locals shared their outrage after finding themselves suddenly unable to drink at the bar, with one commenting that 'bars should not be able to discriminate' against those of legal age.

'Not only do you hurt your sales, but you lose customers as well,' they said.

Details over the alleged incident that triggered the ban are unclear, with Facebook users saying that a fight broke out inside the bar several weeks ago.

Donerick's Pub did not immediately respond to a request for further details when contacted by DailyMail.com.

Underneath the social media announcement, the bar said: 'We will continue to try different things to keep our business safe and cut down on violence.'

Some residents argued that the ban unfairly targets those not involved, with one saying it was 'sad one incident impacted the entire business.'

'I'm 25, and all my friends are under 30. We come here for good vibes,' they said. 'In this type of business it's inevitable that incidents will happen. Need better plans for when things get out of control.'

Another said they disagreed with the move because it may hurt bartenders and waiters the most, as their potential tips could be diminished.

'This won't only affect the business' income, but the employees that rely on tips to make a living wage,' they said.

'You'd accomplish more from better-trained security, a dress code and a cover charge.'

'So your bar actually wants less paying customers?' another said. 'Can't wait to see how this plays out.'

Others were less angered by the decision, as one said the alleged fight that triggered the move left them feeling 'embarrassed'

Reports indicate that some kind of fight in the bar triggered the move, but younger patrons reacted with outrage after suddenly finding themselves underage

While younger patrons reacted with fury after finding themselves unable to buy a drink, older drinkers didn't seem to be turned off by the idea.

Some suggested raising the age limit even higher, as one commented: 'The best decision 35 would be even better this generation is just lost in the sauce.'

'35+ please. If things don't change I will never go back after the shenanigans this past weekend,' said another. 'Embarrassing.'

Others also chimed in to claim that the drinkers who were involved in the alleged fight were well over 30, and may have been 'well into their 50's.'
