The perps, all Venezuelan nationals, allegedly ambushed the victims, including professional cyclist Javier Jamaica, on Tuesday.

Jamaica told Noticias Caracol that after he was knocked off his bicycle, the suspects beat him and tied him up before they took his cell phone, helmet, sunglasses and bike shoes.

They abandoned him with another bicyclist, who had been robbed 15 minutes earlier, and fled before they were captured later.

Cundinamarca Police commander, colonel Andrés Serna, said in a statement that the suspects also forced their victims into providing their banking information and wired an unspecified amount of money.

Cops were able to track down the three suspects as they transited in a stolen vehicle and recovered both bicycles, worth about $15,000 each.

The suspects were identified as Arles Olivares, Reinel Granadilla and Donanfer Lunar.

Lunar was wanted by authorities after he was filmed robbing a man of his electrical scooter in Bogotá, the Colombian capital, on March 24.

The footage showed Lunar threatening the victim with a knife in the middle of a pedestrian bridge while his accomplice ordered him to hand over his personal belongings.

Authorities are still searching for the victim from the March robbery to interview him.

The case's lead prosecutor revealed the suspects carefully planned their robberies at two different points near forested areas in Choachí and Bogotá.

Aside from stealing bicycles and electric scooters, the criminal crew would lead their victims to forested areas, where they would force them to unblock their cell phones and wire money from their bank accounts or ask them to turn over their passwords.

'You knew that in the sector where you were located there were people practicing cycling,' the prosecutor said.

'You take away his cell phone, bicycle, glasses and the other items he had, and then tie him up and leave him lying there,' the prosecutor said of the crime involving Jamaica.
