A pregnant woman due to give birth Friday and her unborn child were both killed after severe weather caused a tree to fall through her mobile home.

Nine months-pregnant Kristin Browning, 31, and her fetus were killed during the weather on Monday.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, Browning was killed after a tree fell on her mobile home in Port Allen, West Baton Rouge Parish.

Her husband Justin Browning and their five-year-old daughter were inside the home at the time and rushed to hospital.

WAFB reported that a wind gust of 63 miles per hour was recorded at a nearby community center at the time.

Neighbor Hank Moses told the outlet: 'We all grew up here, we know everybody just like family. It was tough to see.'

Moses said that downed trees blocked first responders from getting to the family, with him and his dad helping them to the home.

He continued: 'It's sad, these trees can be moved, they can be replaced. It is just sad that a life was lost. It's tough.'

Authorities also said that a female died in Cecilia, also Louisiana, after a camper rolled over because of high winds on Monday night.

Storms slammed several Southern states hitting areas previously hit during one of the most active periods for twisters on record.

At least 267 tornadoes were confirmed by the National Weather Service from April 25 through May 10.

On Monday, more than 15 million people from Texas to Florida were under threat of severe storms and tornadoes.

At highest risk for severe storms and tornadoes was a zone stretching from southeast Texas through much of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast regions of Mississippi and Alabama, and to the Florida Panhandle.

A GoFundMe has since been created for the Browning family following the death of Kristin.

It reads: 'During the severe storms that rolled through our area last night a tree fell on the trailer of the Browning (Kent) family taking the life of Kristen.

'If any of you know this family they are always willing to help any one in need. They now need our help. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.'

As of Wednesday, the GoFundMe has surpassed the original goal of $3,000 and had raised over $19,000.
