Podcaster and internet personality DJ Akademiks has been accused of sexual assault and defamation in a lawsuit filed earlier this week.

Fauziya Abashe alleges in her suit that Akademiks, real name Livingston Allen, raped her at his home in New Jersey in July 2022.

In the complaint, filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Abashe claims she met Allen in 2021 through social media and the two casually dated.

Abashe claims she periodically visited his home and didn't 'suspect any ill intentions', when she was invited to his address in July 2022.

She alleges that Allen 'brutally' raped her after two unnamed accomplices allegedly drugged and gang-raped her at his home earlier that day.

Abashe is suing Allen and the two unnamed individuals for sexual assault, negligent infliction of emotional distress and defamation and requested a jury trial.

In a statement to USA Today, her lawyer Tyrone Blackburn said: 'Litigation is always the last resort. After several unsuccessful attempts to resolve this case privately.

'Ms Abashe was left with no choice but to file. Mr. Allen’s hubris will be his downfall.'

In a livestream on Tuesday, Allen appeared to address the lawsuit, saying: 'I'm going to go against my very high-priced attorney's advice today, but I'm still not going to say much.'

'My only comment should really be, whatever this is will be handled in court.

'Just know, according to the law and according to the police and according to all sanctioning governing authorities.

'Akademiks is an innocent man who has not ever been charged with anything of the sort that has to do with any deviancy or anything like that, has never been charged, will never be charged. That's a fact.'

Allen, who is also the co-host of the Complex show Everyday Struggles, added that the lawsuit was a 'shakedown' saying it was a 'money tree situation'.

The morning after the alleged incident, Abashe said she didn't know what happened until Allen showed her footage of the incident which happened on his pool deck.

Abashe allegedly went to the police to report the assaults and had a sexual assault forensic exam performed.

Allen has over 1.5 million followers on X and a further 2.8 million subscribers on YouTube, as well as 500,000 on Twitch.

He regularly shares his thoughts on the music industry and seemed to address the events referenced in the suit in a video last December.

In the video, he said he came from a party forgetting he had invited an unnamed girl into his home.

The next morning, he accused the woman of having sex with his two friends willingly.

In his livestream earlier this week, Allen seemed to confirm that a police investigation had been conducted into the claims.

He said: 'I told the truth: Hey, the police came, they looked, we gave them everything, pretty much everything is documented, caught on video tape.

'They got to see it with their own two eyes. Not only did they say Ak, you good — and that's not just word of mouth — you're officially cleared.

'We could not bring any criminal charges. You are not criminally liable. Also, anybody else in the situation was also cleared.'
