A former Augusta National employee has pleaded guilty to a $5million theft scheme of Masters memorabilia, which included one of Arnold Palmer's Green Jackets.

According to federal prosecutors, the employee, Richard Globensky, would steal items from the warehouse before selling and transporting them to a party in Florida for them to be sold online.

Globensky, who operated the scheme for nearly 10 years, was charged in Chicago federal court with one count of transporting goods knowing they had been stolen.

He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison, but will likely get closer to two years in prison under the sentencing guidelines.

Palmer won The Masters on four occasions, in 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964.

The items - stolen between 2009 and 2022 - included T-shirts, mugs and chairs, and historic memorabilia, including green jackets and tickets to Masters tournaments in the 1930s.

Globensky declined to comment to reporters.

His attorney, Thomas Church, said the case was being tried in Chicago because some of the stolen goods were recovered in the area.

Sentencing will be in late October.

Augusta National hosts the annual Masters golf tournament, which Scottie Scheffler won last month.

For many fans, the chance to buy merchandise that´s not officially sold online is a key part of attending the tournament every April.
