Olivia Munn has revealed that she decided to undergo 'risky' egg retrieval amid her 'tiring' cancer battle because she and her partner John Mulaney are desperate to have 'one more baby.'

Olivia, 43, who is already mom to her two-year-old son Malcolm, revealed in March of this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023, and since then she has undergone four surgeries - including a double mastectomy - with the treatment putting her into medically induced menopause.

In an exclusive interview with Good Morning America's Michael Strahan, the X-Men: Apocalypse actress confirmed that she made the decision to go through a round of egg retrieval because she and John, 41, 'weren't done growing our family.'

'John and I talked about it. Right after the double mastectomy I went through a round of egg retrieval. That's scary because I have a cancer that feeds off of hormones so I knew there was a risk,' Olivia explained to Michael, whose daughter Isabella was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in October 2023.

'Our doctor said, "look, we're going to get one for you and then we're going to call it". Then the doctor called and he said, "hey, we got the results back, it's two healthy embryos". We just started bawling crying, both of us.

'I really just hope it works out for us to have another baby. We just want one more. I'm not going to ask for too much more in this life, I promise. I just want one more baby,' Olivia said.

Referring to the treatment, the mother-of-one continued: 'The hormone suppression therapy is brutal. It gave me next level debilitating exhaustion, I was in bed all day long, all day long. My quality of life was so minimal. I wasn't able to be there for my baby.'

When Michael asked if Malcolm had 'noticed a change' in his mother, Olivia replied: 'Yeah. I mean, whenever Malcolm would come home, he would run to my bed because that's where he knows I am.

'That's what he associated with me, that was just too difficult for me to take. I had to find out if there was another option so I opted to do the hysterectomy with the ovariectomy. Almost immediately after that my energy just came back full force,' she added.

Olivia began dating comedian John in 2021 and the couple welcomed their son Malcolm on November 24 that same year.

When asked how he had supported her through her diagnosis, Olivia revealed: 'He's honestly just the best human being. He comes to everything in life with so much compassion and understanding.

'But the one problem with that, he makes me laugh so much that I'm like, "there's times you have to leave the room, this is insane." I just say, "leave the room, you have to leave. You're going to make me angry now. I'm going to literally pop a stitch, it's going to hurt!"' she laughed.

Explaining what she has learnt about herself since her diagnosis, Olivia said: 'I've learned that I'm a lot braver than I thought I was.

'I learned that the most important thing to me in life is my family, everything else can go away. I don't have my career, I don't have my body the way that it looked before, but as long as the people that I love and care about are here and healthy and thriving, nothing else matters,' she added.

Olivia went on to reveal that her doctor wants her to start another drug that will stop her from producing the hormones elsewhere in the body.

'I have been aggressive,' she admitted. 'I did everything they told me to do. I did all the big surgeries and now I'm saying, "do I have to do this extra drug?"'

Asked why that was the one thing she had questioned, Olivia replied: 'It's so tiring. It's so tiring, these drugs are so tiring.

'I know that I'm going to stay aggressive, I know that I'm going to do it. I'm just surprised that I'm even asking for anything less than aggressive because as you know, it's nonstop.'
