A board-certified dermatologist has shared her top tips on how to achieve an 'overnight skin transformation' - and one of the products is extremely affordable.

The hacks were shared by New York City-based dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss in a TikTok video that was posted earlier this week.

The doctor is a cosmetic expert in 'face, fillers and lasers,' and often takes to social media to share her skincare expertise with her 899,000 followers.

'I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret,' Dr. Idriss began the video. 'The uglier you go to bed, the prettier you wake up in the morning.'

She explained that these tips will leave your skin looking 'brighter' and 'smoother' by the time you wake up.

The first tip she offered was to put on an exfoliating mask.

'Exfoliating acids are key to looking smooth and fresh and having skin like a baby's butt,' Dr. Idriss explained.

'Glycolic acid specifically is great, not only to buff your skin, but to hydrate it,' she continued, as she applied the product all over her face.

The founder of Dr. Idriss skincare said that she slathers on the acid from her forehead all the way down to her neck multiple times per week.

'If you can tolerate exfoliating acids and you do not have sensitive skin, this could be your one-step nighttime routine that you put on an hour before you go to bed, and then you just sleep through the night, waking up to the softest skin of your dreams,' Dr. Idriss said.

Next up, she suggested something called 'face basting' - putting diaper cream all over your face.

Face basting is meant to have benefits that help to repair the skin barrier and soothe inflammation, according to PopSugar.

The dermatologist explained that she puts this on during the nights where she's not exfoliating.

'I go in with a zinc oxide paste - for your kids' bums,' she said, as she put it all over her face.

She joked that she looked like a 'Magnolia cupcake' after applying the paste, which typically retails for less than $10 at drugstores.

Lastly, Dr. Idriss also recommended 'lip basting,' which she described as a 'two-step process' using an exfoliating acid and a 'nice, rich occlusive.'

Lip basting will prevent you from getting dry, cracked lips, and hydrate the skin, according to Refinery29.

'I'm going with a seven per cent glycolic acid,' she explained, as she rubbed the product on her lip.

'If you are prone to cold sores, you might want to use something even lighter like a mandelic acid,' she offered.

After applying the glycolic acid, you then apply the rich occlusive.

In the comments section of her video, many said they followed suit, but joked about how 'crazy' they looked at night with all of these products slathered on their face

'As you sleep overnight, you skin will soak up all of this goodness, and you will wake up looking dewy, plump, refreshed with the skin of your dreams,' the expert promised.

In the comments section of her video, many said they followed suit, but joked about how 'crazy' they looked at night with all of these products slathered on their face.

'Me over here looking like Mrs Doubtfire after he dips his face in the cake every night I look crazy going to bed,' one person wrote.

Another agreed, 'My husband kissed me and my lips were filled with butt paste.'

'Yes!! Best advice from TikTok is the basting with butt cream!! After my night serums and moisturizer I lock it in with butt paste!! Got rid of ALL my dry patches during the winter!!' someone else typed.
