Driver Nolan Siegel shook off a horrifying crash at the Indy 500 on Friday.

While turning on his 15th lap, the 19-year-old's car began spinning before hitting the barricade. As Siegel tried to regain control, the vehicle turned face and backward by the wall before flipping up and over.

Following the terrifying wreck, Siegel immediately informed his team he was fine over the PA system.

'Yeah, I'm alright. I'm so sorry, guys,' the Californian said. 'I'm alright.'

'I don't know [what happened], to be honest,' Siegel shared after being checked and released from the infield care center. 'I'll have to look at it closer.'

'I had one snap of oversteer that I caught and then turned back in and spun, and I'm not exactly sure why.'

While relieved to come out of the wreck in good shape, the young racer shared that he felt bad for his team, suggesting that their efforts came in vain after the crash.

'Feel bad for the team that's been working so hard for so long for this and just kind of threw it away,' he said. 'So not at all happy about that one.

'But, we'll move forward and see if we can get back out and qualify for the race tomorrow.'

Siegel currently runs full-time in Indy NXT and is vying for his second points-paying start in the IndyCar Series. The teenager was able to walk away from the wreck with assistance. However, the race was paused as the track needed patchwork after his car's suspension dug into the pavement.

Siegel is the third driver to crash this week alongside fellow rookie Lunys Lundqvist and 2022 Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson.

'I'm fine,' Siegel reiterated. 'I feel like I can go back out and we'll have a chance at making the race at least, but certainly a setback we didn't need so my apologies to everyone.'

'We're probably going to have go back to the spare car and we don't know exactly where that's going to be. I'll look into what I can do differently.'
