Terrifying blood-stained grin of deranged woman who led LA cops on high-speed chase before trying to escape

Terrifying images captured the blood-stained grin of a woman who led Los Angeles cops on a high-speed chase through oncoming traffic. 

The deranged driver, who has not been identified, weaved in and out of traffic while colliding with several vehicles, including cop cars chasing her along the 405 Freeway. 

She reached speeds upwards of 100mph before the pursuit came to a dramatic conclusion when the driver slammed her white truck into a stopped car at high speed before climbing out. 

The woman attempted to scale a big rig truck when cops circled her with tasers, before she flashed a blood-spattered smile at witnesses as she was taken into custody.

The chase unfolded shortly after 4 am in Venice, California

The chase unfolded shortly after 4am in Venice, California, when police received reports of a female motorist causing a 'disturbance', reports the LA Times. 

The exact reason for the reports is unclear, and the Los Angeles Police Department told DailyMail.com it could not provide details about the arrest until the suspect was officially booked into custody. 

The department added that it expects to identify the woman and announce charges at a later time.  

As cops arrived on the scene, she reportedly slammed into a police cruiser to speed away. At one point she turned around to purposefully strike a police cruiser that was reversing towards her to slow her down. 

Helicopter footage captured by KTLA-TV showed the female driver narrowly avoid a head-on collision with one of the police cars chasing her, before she swerved onto the 405 Freeway. 

Driving in the wrong direction, the woman sped past traffic as commuters drove to work and dropped their kids off to school in the early morning darkness.

The pursuit came to a dramatic end as the suspect slammed into oncoming traffic before exiting her vehicle and climbing aboard a big rig truck

She appeared to purposefully slow down to ram one vehicle's bumper at one moment, and several other cars on the freeway were forced to swerve out of her path to avoid also being hit.

With a number of police cars in hot pursuit, the daring chase came to an end when the driver accelerated dangerously at a sedan, which was among dozens of cars stopped on the freeway as she barreled towards them. 

The man inside the sedan, identified as a man named Rudolf, was trapped in his vehicle by the head-on collision but uninjured.

He was forced to wait for police to break his window and rescue him, and told reporters at the scene that he felt 'blessed' to have walked away alive.  

After her path was blocked by dozens of cars on the freeway, the woman climbed onto the hood of a big rig truck and sat there while cops pointed tasers at her 

The woman was taken into custody and transferred to hospital, and at least one LAPD officer was also transported to hospital for injuries sustained in the chase 

The suspect then got out of her car and climbed on top of a big rig truck that was stopped alongside her, and sat on the hood while police encircled her. 

She was taken into custody and handcuffed, and reportedly was placed into an ambulance. 

It is unclear if she was injured, with images of the woman showing she had a large amount of blood on her face and around her mouth. 

At least one LAPD officer was also transported to hospital for injuries sustained in the chase.
