President Joe Biden's top Border Patrol officials attended booze-filled parties in the U.S. and Mexico on behalf of a tequila tycoon and international trade broker.
And now two officials are under investigation for improperly accepting lavish gifts and transportation to and from the ragers.
Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens and Chief Patrol Agent of the Rio Grande Valley sector Gloria Chavez are being probed for potentially improperly disclosing their connections to the businessmen, NBC News reports.
The two businessmen are Francisco Javier González, a Mexican tequila mogul whose grandfather founded Don Julio tequila, and Eduardo Garza Robles, a Mexican-American who operates a customs broker offering international cargo services called Uni-Trade.
Owens and Chavez were already under investigation for their relationships with the González and now officials are probing their connections to the international trade broker, Robles, who introduced the three.

According to the report, González wanted to create a Border Patrol-themed tequila for the department's 100th anniversary and photos on social media in February show Owens and Chavez at his family's distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.
The Mexican tequila maker, whose family is deeply connected in the industry, owns Tequila Casa de los González.
The relationship with the tequila maker dates back to July 2023 at which time González hosted and event for CBP leadership in Laredo, Texas, a border town of roughly 250,000 residents, two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials told NBC News.
Robles, the owner of Uni-Trade who introduced Owens, Chavez and González, is a big player in the border town where his company has a large operation.
But this is not Garza's first time playing politics.
Previously he has been photographed with Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, who is currently being probed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
According to the DOJ, Cuellar 'allegedly accepted approximately $600,000 from Azerbaijan's state-owned oil company and a Mexican bank in exchange for official acts as a member of Congress.'
Also in the image is Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn.
Robles, whose company also has operations in Mexico, is so prominent that last year the mayor of Laredo gave him a symbolic key to the city.

He has also given thousands to elected officials and has flown them on his company airplane.
The report also claims Robles hosted an event at his Laredo ranch celebrating a change in Border Patrol leadership in July 2023.
The DHS Office of Inspector General is also investigating the conduct of agent Chavez and the Uni-Trade CEO's conduct at the events and parties, according to the report.
In October 2023, there was yet another party hosted at Robles' ranch for Border Patrol officials from the Laredo sector and Rio Grande Valley sector, which agent Chavez oversees.
These individuals were shuttled to the party, listened to remarks from Robles and enjoyed dinner while listening to a comedian all on the Uni-Trade CEO's dime, the report states.
Investigators are also probing rumors that Robles and agent Chavez together traveled in November 2023 to Guadalajara, Mexico. It is unclear who paid.
Later in December 2023 Robles hosted some Border Patrol sector chiefs and their staff at his Laredo ranch.
They had a 'Uni-Trade dinner' that lasted four hours, according to the agenda reviewed by the outlet.
Images from the dinner show Robles, Border Patrol Chief Owens, agent Chavez and a former Border Patrol Laredo sector chief Joel Martinez all sitting together at a table.
At the time Martinez was the second-highest ranking Border Patrol official.
He retired this year amid a scandal that suggested he sexually harassed female agency subordinates.
The project to create a CBP tequila has been put on hold as the investigation continues

In February, González hosted Robles, Owens and Garza at his Tequila Casa de los González distillery in Jalisco for the Border Patrol chief's birthday celebration.
The report also says that González attended at least one event for Border Patrol officials hosted by Robles in Laredo. González himself said it was the party in December.
The Don Julio heir said Border Patrol officials visited his plant on February 2 to decide what type of tequila the agency wanted for its anniversary alcohol and to 'see all the legal formalities that need to be done.'
González also said he did not pay for the officials to travel to his Jalisco plant.
An attorney for Robles said the Uni-Trade CEO 'never paid for any travel or transportation for Gloria Chavez or Jason Owens,' NBC News reported.
The lawyer said Robles 'hosted a number of celebrations for various reasons at his home, however, the purpose[s] of those celebrations have involved family, friends or sporting events.'
Part of the CBP probe into Owens and Chavez relates to what Robles and or González provided the officials during their trips to the tequila distillery.
'The gala event planned for May 25th in El Paso celebrating the Border Patrol's 100 years of history has been canceled. All other events will proceed as planned,' Owens posted on X Thursday.
And the plan to create a Border Patrol tequila has been put on hold as the investigation goes on, according to the report.
Owens' travel to González's tequila distillery was not paid for by the Don Julio heir, he said
Whatever the investigation yields, CBP ethics codes forbid accepting gifts from individuals who conduct 'conducts activities regulated by the employee’s agency' or 'has interests that may be substantially affected by the performance or nonperformance of the employee’s official duties.'
CBP, DHS and Uni-Trade did not immediately return a request for comment.
