Carla Bruni joins glamorous Alexa Chung and a VERY racy Natasha Poly as the models descend on Cannes Film Festival at the Emilia Perez premiere

The French Riviera came alive on Saturday evening as the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival continued.

The sprawling Palais des Festival played host to the Emilia Perez premiere as a number of models turned Cannes into a runway. 

Carla Bruni was joined by fashionista Alexa Chung and Natasha Poly - and all were dressed to impress for the screening. 

Carla, 56, looked stunning in a gold sleeveless sequin evening dress that bore a sweetheart neckline while making her way into the event.

The model added to the look with silver and gold jewellery, while Alexa, 40, wore a bold black dress with corset detailing and two horns on the chest.

Italian model Carla Bruni looked every inch the golden goddess as she stepped out on to the star-studded carpet wearing a fabulous metallic pencil dress 

The bottom half was a black tulle skirt which she paired with round court shoes. She wore her dark tresses slicked back. 

Natasha Poly, 38, made sure she commanded attention as she attended the event in a barely-there black dress.

The very racy number had a one shouldered strap and panel detailing that covered her modesty.

Her toned legs were put on display as she teetered the carpet in black pointed sling backs.

As she turned around to give photographers a glimpse of the back of her ensemble, her pert derriere was on full display, as it was only covered by a very sheer layer of the dress material.

Making sure she continued with her bold look throughout, Natasha opted for a dark eye and wet look hair that was scraped back into a low ponytail.

Carla put on an age defying display as she showed off her  figure in a plunging sweetheart neckline gown

Alexa, 40, meanwhile wore a black corset cinched at the waist over her dramatic dress which featured a large tulle skirt

The bold black dress had corset detailing and two horns on the chest. The corset style top had ribbed detailing and also bore black sequins in the shape of flowers all over it

Natasha Poly, 38, made sure she commanded attention as she attended the event in a barely-there, black dress

French model Josephine Le Tutour cut a royal figure as she stepped out in a black satin ballgown

The 29-year-old's dramatic fishtail dress accentuated her figure as it cinched the model in at the waist before dramatically pooling out in a skirt and train

Like many other celebrities of the evening, Josephine's fabulous dress featured a hint of white silk as the top of her dress featured a heart-shape design with a twisted knot in the middle 

Polish model Anja Rubik, 40, slipped her statuesque figure into a sleek strapless maxi dress which featured ruching at the front

As Anja posed in different positions on the red carpet, she showcased the sleek cow neck design at the back 

Caroline Daur, 29, showed off her sophisticated sense of style in a floor length black dress which bore a split up one side and a white flowing cape

The German model boosted her height with a pair of strappy heels that featured ankle straps and the the cape into the air for extra effect

Romee Strijd, 28, looked sensational in a figure-hugging nude dress which was encrusted with sequins and feathers all over

The Dutch model enhanced her natural beauty with a dewy make-up look and accessorised with drop down diamond earrings and a chunky necklace

Romee showed off her famous figure in the eye-catching sparkly number with dramatic with a white feathered train

The three models were attending the Emilia Perez premiere. The musical crime film stars Karal Sofia Gascon, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana and Edgar Ramirez.

According to IMDB, the film's plot centres on Rita, a talented lawyer disillusioned by her firm's win-at-all-costs mentality, who finds an unexpected opportunity for escape. 

Infamous cartel leader Manitas enlists her for an extraordinary task: to assist him in leaving his criminal empire behind and fulfilling his lifelong dream of transitioning into the woman he has always wanted to be.

Also in attendance was Polish model Anja Rubik, German model Caroline Daur and Dutch Romee Strijd.  

Anja, 40, slipped her statuesque figure into a sleek strapless maxi dress which featured a ruching at the front and a cow neck design at the back. 

Her blonde locks were styled into tousles and she finished the look with a dark red lip and buckled heels.

Caroline, 29, showed off her sophisticated sense of style in a floor length black dress for the event.

The chic ensemble bore a split up one side and a white flowing cape which the model dramatically threw into the air fr extra effect.

She boosted her height with a pair of strappy heels that featured ankle straps.

Meanwhile Romee, 28, looked sensational in a figure-hugging nude dress which was encrusted with sequins and feathers all over.  

The model who has been enjoying her time dressing up and partying in France enhanced her natural beauty with a dewy make-up look and accessorised with drop down diamond earrings and a chunky necklace.

Cannes is the world's biggest film festival, first conceived in 1939 as an alternative to the then-fascist-influenced Venice Film Festival.

It has been held annually since 1946 except in 1948 and 1950, when it was cancelled due to lack of funds.

The festival is known for its carefully selected programme of films that have gone on to Oscar glory or launched the careers of directors like Quentin Tarantino.

Cannes' top prize is the Palme d'Or, or Golden Palm, whose past winners include Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, The Pianist and Parasite.
