King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain have released official family portraits to mark their 20th wedding anniversary.

In the sweet images, the King, 56, and his wife, 51, stood alongside their two daughters Princesses Leonor and Sofia for the new portraits.

On May 22nd, the couple will mark the memory of their 2004 wedding at Almudena Cathedral in Madrid.

Two decades have passed and the family looked as close as ever, despite being rocked earlier this year by shocking allegations made by Letizia's brother-in-law that he had once been romantically linked to her.

The Queen - who donned a surprisingly casual pair of white sneakers - appeared as jovial as ever as she posed alongside her husband in the family photos.

In one image, King Felipe stood behind his wife and placed both hands on her shoulders - perhaps to signal his unwavering support.

The couple turned their heads away from the gaze of the camera, while their two daughters are seen walking towards them in the distance.

Set upon an idyllic green setting, it appeared the images were shot on the grounds of their home at the Palace of Zarzuela on the outskirts of Madrid.

In a separate image and against a backdrop of the palace, the King wrapped one arm around his stunning wife while she stood side on and bared a smile.

Meanwhile, in a third photo the royals modeled the role of a perfect loving family as they beamed beside each other while sitting on a wooden bench.

King Felipe and Sophia were seated, while Letizia and Leonor stood behind them.

For the portrait, Letizia sported a red woven blazer which she matched with a pair of sparkling white sneakers.

Giving a nod to the pedal pushers trend, she finished the ensemble by donning a white pair.

The European royals are not the only regal couple celebrating an anniversary this week.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated their wedding anniversary today, marking six years since they tied the knot at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Their picturesque early summer wedding was watched by an estimated 1.9billion people around the world and attended by A-listers such as Oprah Winfrey, David Beckham and George Clooney.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating a 'sugar anniversary' because of the traditional gift given for the occasion.

According to tradition, it's meant to symbolise the sweet story of how the couple fell head over feels for each other, along with the richness of everlasting love.

But as their fondness for one another grows and develops, their highly-publicised rifts with the royal family continues to raise questions about their rocky relationship.
