Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman dismissed criticism on Sunday after he took to social media to weigh in on a spat in the House Oversight Committee where Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene attacked a Democratic colleague's appearance.

Some in the senator's own party are not happy with his take on the fiery exchange which took place when the Georgia lawmaker went after Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett's 'fake eyelashes' during a hearing late Thursday.

Fetterman posted a headline of the House exchange that read 'House committee meeting devolves into chaos as Greene and Ocasio-Cortez trade barbs.'

The Democratic senator wrote with the headline on X ' In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today, I’m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.'

But Ocasio-Cortez, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, was not having it and responded to Fetterman with a repost also on X.

Progressive Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez accuses Fetterman of bullying for his post on X about the tiff in the House Oversight Committee where Rep. Greene attacked a colleague's appearance

'I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a “both sides” issue,' the New York Congresswoman wrote.

'But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one. And to the women of Pennsylvania: I’d stand up for you too,' she added.

During an appearance on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Fetterman was asked about the post and Ocasio-Cortez's response accusing him of bullying.

'Of course that's absurd,' Fetterman said.

'I was just simply responding to the kind of chaos and everything that Representative Greene started as well,' he went on.

Fetterman said if everyone on the committee was proud of what they produced, 'they are entitled to their opinion.'

He also suggested if it was the kind of video they want to send to eighth grade civics students across America 'that's their choice.'

Fetterman said if he's going to push back on anything would be against Hamas. He also mentioned pushing back on Vladimir Putin and voting against aid for Israel and Ukraine.

The exchange that Fetterman posted about on X and has gone viral online started when Greene told Crockett, who is black, 'I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you're reading.'

Soon after, Ocasio-Cortez also jumped in demanding that Greene's words be taken down. She said it was unacceptable and slammed Greene 'How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person!'

Greene proceeded to taunt the New York congresswoman asking if her feelings were hurt.

'Oh girl, baby girl,' Ocasio-Cortez shot back. 'Don't even play.'

The committee did not remove Greene's remarks.

In another eye-popping moment soon after Crockett asked the committee chairman 'if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody's bleach blonde, bad-built, butch body' if that would be against the rules.

She did not mention Greene by name, but it is widely believes Greene was the target of her jab.

Since the hearing, Crockett has called Greene's attacks on her appearance 'racist' and said she would not be disrespected.

Crockett said on Sunday that she does not regret her response and she 'absolutely' believes the attack was racist.

Ocasio-Cortez was not the only Democratic lawmaker in the House to take issue at Fetterman's social media post.

Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, D-TX, also took issue with his post on X.

'Women of color in congress are frequently targeted by misogynistic, xenophobic, ignorant people. I’ve lived it,' she wrote. 'One of the shameless extremists we work with insulted, and used parliamentary procedure to demand a standard of decorum. There is no “both sides,"'
