Who is Xander Schauffele?
A native of San Diego, California, Schauffele is the son of Chen Ping-Yi and Stefan Schauffele.
His mother was born in Taiwan but spent time growing up in Japan while his German-born father, Stefan, - who's been his swing coach his entire life - was born to a French mother and German father.
After winning a California State High School Championship in 2011, Schauffele began his college career at Cal State Long Beach before later transferring to San Diego State.
Schauffele turned pro in 2015 and made his PGA debut the following year.
On the Tour, Schauffele has developed a reputation as one of the best players in the world, shown by his current No. 2 ranking.
Schauffele's dad, Stefan, has served as his swing coach his entire life. Schauffele also works with coach Chris Como.
What are his biggest achievements?
Schauffele's PGA Championship this past weekend is easily his biggest achievement to date, as its the first major win of the golfer's career.
However, he had been close on several occasions with six top-five finishes in majors - including runner-up finishes in The Masters and British Open respectively.
Schauffele has a total of eight PGA Tour wins, including the Tour Championship in 2017 and the Scottish Open in 2022.
He also won the Ryder Cup with Team USA in 2021 and won an Olympic Gold Medal for individual play the same year.
Schauffele won a gold medal during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo for his individual play
Who is he married to?
Schauffele has been married to his wife, Maya, since 2021 but the couple have known each other for far longer.
According to Golfweek, the pair met while he was playing golf at SDSU, with Maya a student nearby at UC-San Diego.
The website, citing a now-deleted LinkedIn profile, wrote she was working for Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest.
And Maya has been by her husband's side throughout his career, as she was seen arm-and-arm with him in Louisville after Sunday's win.
She also traveled with him to the Ryder Cup in Rome last year.

What did he say after his PGA Championship?
Following his win, Schauffele was asked about having his father not present for the win, as his dad is currently staying on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
'He crept into my mind yesterday during an interview. I just said, I'm going to have to sneak back to that, commit, execute, accept,' he said. 'That's something that he's engrained in me since I was about nine years old.
'I was actually able to call him when I was standing, waiting to walk onto the 18th green. He was a mess. He was crying on the phone. It made me pretty emotional. I told him I had to hang up because I had to walk down. I couldn't show up looking like the way I was.'

Schauffele was also asked how he finally got over the hump and captured his first major title.
'To be specific about it, I'm not really sure, to be hones,' he said. 'I've felt like I've been on this sort of trending path for quite some time. I really had to stay patient and keep the self-belief up, and I was able to do both those things.
He added, 'I've become very patient not knocking off any wins in the last couple years. The people closest to me know how stubborn I can be. Winning, I said it earlier, is a result. This is awesome. It's super sweet. But when I break it down, I'm really proud of how I handled certain mom'ents on the course today, different from the past.
