Alex Rodriguez soaks up Timberwolves' epic Game 7 win over defending-champion Nuggets with Anthony Edwards as he tries to wrestle the team from Glen Taylor in mediation

Alex Rodriguez isn't technically the Minnesota Timberwolves owner, and that day may never come, but the situation isn't stopping the baseball legend from taking part in his team's success this postseason.

Seated alongside girlfriend Jaclyn Cordeiro at Denver's Ball Arena for Minnesota's Game 7 win over the defending-champion Nuggets, A-Rod celebrated the team's Western Conference Finals berth by performing a choreographed handshake with Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Later he was seen embracing center Rudy Gobert.

'Let's f***ing go!' Rodriguez appeared to yell after Minnesota's 98-90 win, which puts them into a Western Conference Finals matchup with the Dallas Mavericks.

Interestingly, Edwards didn't even know who Rodriguez was when he and business partner Marc Lore announced plans to buy the team from Glen Taylor in 2021: 'I know he's going to be the owner but I don't know nothing about baseball.'

Three years later, Rodriguez and Lore are still hoping to finalize the deal with Taylor, who exercised his right to pull out of the last part of the structured deal because the prospective buyers failed to make the deadline for the final $600 payment.

Lore and Rodriguez have since claimed that they're waiting for NBA approval on a 90-day extension, while accusing Taylor of having seller's remorse after unloading the team and its WNBA sister club for $1.5 billion.

Since then, NBA team valuations have skyrocketed, making the potential for a renegotiated Timberwolves sale considerably more lucrative.

Rodriguez has called Taylor's misgivings 'f***ing childish' during an interview with Sportico, while Lore has described the sale as a 'matter of time' and 'how much pain Glen wants to put the fans, the players, the town and community through.'

'It's his choice,' Lore continued. 'It didn't have to be this way.'

The Timberwolves will host the visiting Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday.
