A female rancher has mysteriously vanished after walking to her new job in an 'extremely rural' desert community in Utah.

Elizabeth Green, 21, was reported missing by her family to the Juab County Sheriff's Office on April 17.

She was last seen in Callao where she was walking to a ranch to start a new job.

'There's so many unknowns, unfortunately,' her mother, Vanessa Simmons, told KUTV. 'I'm kind of at the point where I think maybe she had somebody pick her up.'

Authorities were told by people close to Elizabeth that she suffers from mental health issues and has previously run away.

The young woman went missing last month, and a search and rescue team was dispatched to search the area she was spotted in on April 18.

'I just don't know who that is, or if they actually picked her up, or if they didn't come and then she went trying to walk through the desert,' Simmons added.

A search warrant was filed by the Juab County Sheriff's Office for access to Elizabeth's devices and social media accounts.

'This area of our county is approximately three hours away from any major cities and requires travel on dirty roads,' it states.

'SAR searched the area between her home and the ranch she was going to work at.

'They also searched in a grid pattern around the area. They were unable to locate Elizabeth or anything to determine where she could have gone.'

Juab County Sheriff's Office examined the ranch where Elizabeth was set to work before she disappeared.

Her family told investigators that she would always return home and communicate within a day.

Search teams have attempted to ping her cell phone but are yet to receive a response.

'Based on the information that we have received, we are concerned about the possibility that Elizabeth is in danger of serious bodily injury or death,' the warrant said.

'It is unknown if Elizabeth is in danger and lost in the vast desert, or if someone that she was communicating with met with her and is holding her against her will.'
